Re: Nado homers in first ST at bat
I'm a Nado fan. I was happy to see it. Nothing wrong with that.
If he has a monster year, I will be happy for him. I won't be mad we traded him either.

Your potential buyers are less at the deadline, and you never know if thise buyers would be looking for a 3b. To say they could have flipped him for more at the deadline is nothing more than a hope and a wish. If you want to move a guy, fir whatever reason, you do it when you have a buyer.CorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 18:57 pmI agree. If the goal is to maximize our prospect return for our veterans, and not simply shed payroll, then why sell low? Not like he was blocking anyone significant at 3B. All we did was clear the way for Gorman to reach 250 strikeouts and give up runs with the glove.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 18:24 pmWe sold low. We could have gotten much more if he has a bounce back year, and if not, could’ve flipped him for the same bunch of nothing and paid him to play somewhere else later. Not like there’s any reinvestment of any savings right now anyway.

To get rid of him
Re: Nado homers in first ST at bat
Arenado had to go! In my opinion he was the opposite of a team leader, no matter what kind of stats he produced. He pouted when he was going bad and let it affect anyone and everything around him. Team chemistry has to be better without him, and no one has to walk around on eggshells anymore!

I did say “if he has a bounce back year”. In that case I think there would be buyers, even for DH or maybe 1B. But you’re right about it being an unknown. If they had gotten better return from eating all that salary I’d say it was a good move.RamFan08NY wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 21:09 pmYour potential buyers are less at the deadline, and you never know if thise buyers would be looking for a 3b. I like the idea of eating salary to basically buy better prospect return, but that didn’t seem to be the case.

Always felt if he could finally get healthy he still had gas left in the tank - lets see how the regular season treats him but wont be surprised if he has a bounce back season.
Re: Nado homers in first ST at bat
Walk around on eggshells...lol....his teammates loved the guy...how many times do they have to say...he's my boy...it didn't affect anyone....he's a gamer and they know he was giving 100 percent and wants to win.....he's high energy....always one of the first to the ballpark to stretch...hit...take ground balls.....yes trading him needed done...everything else you said I think is ridiculous ...however thats just my opinion and that doesn't mean much...but those are the things that his teammates and coaches recognize and say about him....that's their opinion....and their opinion does matter... considering they are on the field and in uniform with himHoosier59 wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 21:53 pm Arenado had to go! Who said to be happy? Did it make you happy to watch Arenado decline year over year, putting up an amazing .9 fWAR last season? It was depressing to watch for me.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 19:44 pmSo Randy and Adolis wouldn't have had the seasons they did if they had stayed in STL, ok...Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 18:33 pmWell there’s no way to sell high on a guy who is aging and regressed three seasons in a row and sucked the past two seasons unless you keep him and a miracle happens. He will have a better season but not a good season in Arizona because it’s a hitter friendly park and some people will probably be silly enough to think he would have had a similar season if he stayed in St. Louis in a hitter unfriendly park that he complained about multiple timesCarp4Cy wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 18:24 pmWe sold low. Yeah sometimes "miracles" do happen and the true cause is just simply getting healthy and reverting to the mean. That's actually not unlikely with nado, even if he'd stayed here. But he's gone now, and so is a lot of cash, with not much coming back this way. Keep pretending we should be happy about it.
It’s also pretty strange to use the MO trades of two players literally entering their primes with one guy in serious decline on the wrong side of 30. Sorry, bad examples.
By that logic, let’s hope on a different miracle. That Gorman and/or Walker have break out seasons instead of hoping on a 35 year old to turn back the clock.

Also I have no idea what arorzorena and Adolis would have done in St. Louis it wouldn’t have been as good. but I know what arenado has done in St. Louis the past two seasons and I know he has complained about hitting at home. But I guess carp doesn’t believe good hitting Parks help hitters and pitcher friendly parks hurt themHorseradish wrote: ↑21 Feb 2026 01:07 amWho said to be happy? Yes, and the threads that will be titled 'Nolan looking very good at the plate ' then when you open it to see their comments on Gorman you find they are taling about Arenado . I am sure Gorman fearing for his third base gig (Urias!) will hit two Krakatoa, East of Java bombs today.

Yes, everytime he homers or everytime Sonny wins a game, etc....scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 14:58 pm And so it already begins...[fork]ing updates on ex Cards...
Re: Nado homers in first ST at bat
I suppose anything could happen, but expectation wise I would take a future Hall of Famer who’s still not that close to 40 rebounding over a failed prospect entering his fifth season who has never had as good of a season.Horseradish wrote: ↑21 Feb 2026 01:07 amWho said to be happy?
