Burns did some good things against Vanderbilt

Post by Shady »

He had a presence. He could really help down the stretch by giving Mizzou solid play off the bench at the 5 position.

Not to be negative, but I really didn't see much but mistakes from him. Bad shot on a three, an awful pass. He has this unicorn height/length/athletic look to him, but his basketball sense and/or confidence is just not there yet.

Well, he tied for the team lead in rebounds with 7, blocked a shot and scored 3 points. And only 1 TO. Progress.

Yes he was better but not what I would call "good".

He's a project, but he played decent last night. Along with his stats his presence made it difficult for Vandy to score inside. If he can earn playing time, build some confidence, he'll contribute as much as Phillips and we won't have to put up with Phillips shenanigans.

He had the best game of his not so great career. When he wasn’t lured out to of the paint on defense he altered shots even if he didn’t block them. He was a problem

Well, it's a little late for that.

Burns did some nice things. Hope he gets more minutes to improve.
The problem we need more from Burns to help us down the stretch.
You just can't depend on the unpredictable Phillips for a full game.

Phillips just isn't very hoops bright. He keeps bringing the ball down low -- even on a late dunk attempt. He just had to reach the ball far behind his head for a thunder dunk and got blocked. I guess he thinks thunder dunks count for more points?

He has to get minutes, especially in tight games like last night. Spend the summer eating steak and cheesecake and strength training and quickness drills. He's too (bleep) big to not work with.

They were up 19 when he left the game for good. We all know what happened after that.
