Apparently he will get a spot on the 40 man. Will that be the final piece to the puzzle?

Maybe but they cut him once, so it could happen again shortly

True. Baseball reference normally shows milb number but there are none for Kent. Seemed odd.HorseTrader wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 07:39 am Maybe but they cut him once, so it could happen again shortly

Kent was drafted by Texas in 2019. The 28-year-old had spent his entire career with the organization until a cash deal sent him to Cleveland. Kent made it up for his big-league debut in April of this past season. He notched a 4.58 ERA across 12 appearances with the Guardians. Kent posted a 21.1% strikeout rate to go with a double-digit walk rate.

Thanks. Lots of strikeouts. Lots of walks. Normally a sign of hard thrower with poor control. Seems to fit with Bloom's stated preference for hard throwers.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 09:00 amhttps://www.baseball-reference.com/regi ... nt--000zakScotchMIrish wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 08:43 amTrue. Bloom wants guys who can strikeout batters . Your defenders can't make errors if the batter strikes out and returns to the dugout.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 12:12 pmThanks. Lots of strikeouts. yet another P, then we DFA the one RHH we did pickup this offseason in Ramos?
Do something for the lineup/bench/future MOTO, maybe?

Now I see a different report. So we'll need to wait and see.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 14:50 pmI still show him as pending, but if so thats good. Nice young depth piece that could find it in AAA, who knows.

True. It's also true there is no defense for a walk.ramfandan wrote: ↑19 Feb 2026 12:17 pmBloom wants guys who can strikeout batters . Has anybody seen any updates on Ramos? If he cleared waivers, the Cardinals should bring him to camp for, at least, a looksee.RamFan08NY wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 08:18 amI read that, as of 2/19 he has not yet cleared waivers. Not sure if that is accurate or not.

Still pending for some reason, usually 72 hours is the waiver claim period (2/16-2/19), unless a trade is being managed lol

Thanks for the update. It seems the waiver period should be up. Please post if you notice any developments.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 09:31 amShady wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 09:01 amHas anybody seen any updates on Ramos? Re: Cardinals pick up Zak Kent off waivers
It's 72 hours if the player has options. Otherwise it's ten days from my understanding. I think I am off on the ten days but I do think it's longer when they don't have options and then he doesn't have to accept the assignment. It might be a 7 day window where they can figure out a trade or a decision on the player.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 09:31 amShady wrote: ↑20 Feb 2026 09:01 amHas anybody seen any updates on Ramos?
