VCU at St. Louis
CBS Sports now has VCU as an at-large bid (last 4 in) in their latest Bracketology for the NCAA Tourney.

VCU pays a visit to Chaifetz Arena this Friday. Hopefully SLU is ticked off after the RI loss and ready to take it out on the Rams. Can we get a 20+ point win?

Huge win for the Billikens. Another slow start made things more difficult than they needed to be and it didn’t help that VCU made 14 more free throws than the SLU.
I still think SLU is going to lose at least 1 of their last 2 road games (hope I’m wrong) so this win was needed to keep an at-large bid in play.
Kudos to Avila and the team for pushing back after that bush league play by VCU at the end.

VCU #5 started the whole riot with a push in the back but wasn't penalized.todd-parker wrote: ↑21 Feb 2026 07:21 am Huge win for the Billikens. Another slow start made things more difficult than they needed to be and it didn’t help that VCU made 14 more free throws than the SLU.

I agree but the push didn’t actually start it. Why would #1 try to come up from behind and try to take the ball from Q Jones while he was dribbling out the clock in an 18 point game with a couple of seconds left to play. The white flag was raised. SLU wasn’t trying to score any more points, the game had been decided.
Avila did put a body on him and a foul was called. #1 could have let the last 2 seconds run off instead of his bush league play. The push by #5 was completely uncalled for.
The fact that VCU shot 4 FTs at the end and we got nothing? I guess glad it wasn’t a close game.
Re: VCU at St. Louis
Showed a total lack of class by VCU.

Re: VCU at St. Louis
Here's the write-up from ESPN about the end-of-the-game activity. Did they watch the same thing we did?
"With his team up double digits in the final seconds, Saint Louis guard Quentin Jones tried to dribble out until the final buzzer but not before he bumped an opposing player. VCU's Nyk Lewis then stole the ball and Saint Louis standout Robbie Avila bumped Lewis out of bounds. That sequence led to players and staffers from both teams spilling onto the floor in a chaotic scene."

Nice whitewashing of events, ESPN.

Re: VCU at St. Louis
IMO it was a cheap shot Avila plain and simple. Should Lewis have taken the ball away from Jones ? (NO) but Avila should have just let it go. No update from the A10 yet, but Avila may be suspended for at least one game for starting that conflict!Gymrat79 wrote: ↑22 Feb 2026 21:31 pmIMO it was a cheap shot Avila plain and simple.
