NBC shows shots of Mother Hughes and Father Hughes repeatedly during every USA game in the tournament ...and can't find them for a reaction shot in OT of the quarterfinals? Some director just lost a sports EMMY.

I get why they did it, it's a tournament from start to finish, you need to play under the same rules. That being said, 5 on 5 hockey for 10 more minutes with Penalty shots to be the decider is better than 3 on 3 with penalty shots. I think it's a simple fix. The teams will throw it all out there to not go to penalty shots so you will still get a different style of hockey.

The hard part is you have to move the tourney along. you can't be going 20 end over end in a 1 game scenario. It can flip the whole tourney on it's head for the next team. In a best of 7 it's fine because both teams have to play under that same previous matchup.

but it's a shame, the 3 favorites pulled it in OT, would have liked to see 5 on 5 as well.

Hate 3v3 but at least they were smart enough not to add the long change on top of it. Teams actually have to out play the other side instead of just wearing them out with repeated changes.

I was very happy with 3 on 3 for both games because it is still a team sport when played that way.
Now had the determination been made to win a medal on a 5 player shootout. I’m totally against that. That’s pretty much a matter of luck and depends upon the individuals chosen for the shootout. Surely they won’t do that in the gold medal game.. certainly hope not.

And I certainly agree with the last poster about which end of the teams play on. This makes more sense.

Absolutely correct. The long change is responsible for a lot of the silliness you see in NHL OT now. Hope the board of governors was paying attention today.
