Blues Trades: Proceed with Caution
I suspect that no trade is the best option for the Blues. For the sake of draft position, I don't want to exchange an unmotivated soft Kyrou and a gimpy Thomas with playoff models. Nope, let's just keep the soft losing going with Army's roster.
If Army was angling for draft picks, it would be a different story. If Army can replace Faulk with a young D, that would be a different story as well.
I also think that Thomas coming off surgery is not as valuable as Thomas recovered and scoring.
Here's to nothing.

Re: Blues Trades: Proceed with Caution
Think about what is happening here.
Why would Army seek trades (not draft picks) early, way ahead of the deadline?
The only answer: Army wanted to WIN THIS YEAR and spoil our draft position again. Swap out the bad for the good, fast. Swap out the unmotivated with highly motivated in time to bring a few more wins this year.
Let's not give Army his wish. Nope. Let's see the losing all the way to the end of the regular season--like every other GM does it.

Sometimes I get logged out which is when I see his troll baiting. Once I sign back in he's blocked so that's easy but one would think that if ZERO people liked them, that they'd stop showing up. I guess Trolls need the oxygen to be relevant in their head.

I write for hockey experts, but if it entertains the 6th-grade girls too, I guess I'm all for it. Re: Blues Trades: Proceed with Caution
No trade is the worst option. This team needs more depth and quality in the pipeline. Delaying getting that help in the pipeline is delaying getting back to being a playoff team.
We have players like Faulk and Schenn that should return good assets(either prospects or picks) that could go towards helping fill some holes in our development pipeline at C and RD. I'm not a believer in moving Thomas given we are shallow at C but Kyrou might be an option as well. Binnington probably isn't moved.

The best way to load the pipeline is via the NHL draft. That is how every GM does it, except Army. He's not filled up at the NHL draft in 20 years--unless you count stocking up on an overabundance of 3rd-liners.LGB73 wrote: ↑18 Feb 2026 09:00 am No trade is the worst option. And the best way to use the NHL draft is to avoid quick fixes like Fowler, Suter, Faksa, Bjugstad, etc. etc etc. When Army makes trades, he loads up on 2 things:
- Low draft picks
- Highly-motivated veterans desperately clinging to the NHL
Neither help with the future. We shall see what happens during SELL 2.0.
