Spoken like a true former baseball player. I can just tell.

He looked over matched at times but he's far from a finished product.

As a player on the roster he has value even as an athletic RH option at 2B, 3B
and LF. IF he would happen to win any one of those jobs, there is upside
that the previous owner at UT didn't have.
He may have been overmatched at times but look at Gorman's numbers. We know what numbers Gorman will put up. As you said Saggesse is far from a finished product. Regular plate appearances at a regular position could provide dividends.
Absolutely,
There's no reason to close any book on him.
Winning an outright position especially early seems unlikely to me'
Being a 2022 or 2023 Donovan is a very good opportunity imo and would
allow for consistent PT.
His RHB fits too with Gorman, JJ, and Noot. Donnie seemed to embrace it as
an opportunity and he ran with it. Saggese has a fair amount more speed and
according to his MiLB more pop too.
It's all hope right now, but I'd like to see him run with an opportunity.
Since a couple others get another shot UT seems like his best right now.
If Bloom had cleaned house with the coaches and brought in an entirely new bunch I might say give the players who have been here for 3 or 4 years a chance but in this case I say give Saggesse a regular spot and turn him loose.

Saggese is blocked by Gorman in the infield... but maybe not for much longer. Gorman will get at least half a season in 2026 though.

Church is blocked by Walker/Scott in the outfield... but maybe not for much longer. Walker will get at least half a season in 2026 though.

Saggese needs to translate his miLB power to MLB power.
Church needs to be an OBP guy to succeed and look to spray some doubles and triples into the gaps. Long term, he needs to be looking to push for Scott's job if Scott can't learn to get on base. I don't see Church as a starting corner OF on a good team.

Both need to use the whole field.

Saggese is a ball player. He would play any position suitably. His future is as a Super UTIL guy so it makes all the sense in the world to get him OF reps
