A 1st round pick and a forward prospect with a physical/two way game that stands out. This team is not lacking for young talent on the wings with Holloway, Neighbours, Snuggerud, Carbonneau, Stenberg, possibly McKenna or Stenberg the younger coming soon.

The reason is that SJS have so many prospects that they can afford to trade quantity for NHL qualityQuas wrote: ↑
I would look at a team like San Jose that is loaded with prospects. I would take a couple former 2nd rounders from them like Halttunen and LSW.
I understand what you would like from San Jose. But why would they have any interest in Kyrou?
Grier (GM and former player) was a power forward and played a heavy game. His team is stocked with young offensively skilled talent. He doesn't need a one way floater. He needs guys who hunt pucks. He needs D for transition and to fuel the speed. Hey. I'd love a crack and their talent. But I just don't see why Grier would be interested.

Yes and yes. Moving on from Kyrou is addition by subtraction…assuming lessons were learned by the front office.bud white wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 11:27 amI couldn't agree more!Army's Mom wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 11:08 am 1st and a 2nd. Not saying that's all he is worth, or that's all Army should ask for. But I would settle for that.
The chance to reallocate cap space and shed a bad example is at least as valuable as the counting stats he can put up when he tries, IMHO. And he's not even putting those up this year.
Depending on where he goes, be prepared to be underwhelmed. Almost half of the GMs in the league now are former players in the league. Four are presidents of their teams or hockey ops. They are guys like Shanahan, Sakic, Neely, Lemieux so they know it it takes to play in the leaugue and what types of players are needed to win Championships. NONE of those GMs or presidents would want Kyrou. They know his kind.

Just because this season is a loss doesn’t mean that next year is, too. Just because there’s the existence of a Trade Deadline doesn’t mean we have to move Kyrou then, either. If the deal isn’t there, they’ve got him under contract through 2030/31. His contract becomes even more attractive in the offseason when the cap opens up.
As we saw w/Broberg & Holloway, Armstrong has gotten feelers in the past at the deadline, and then struck in the offseason. Ideally, they’ve Trade Deadline is this intensity-fueled opportunity to make a deal where some panicked GM makes a reaction-decision to overpay with the hype and chance of a deep run.
For the Blues, this deadline is really about fishing for mistakes. LA appears to be an opportunity (Fiala injury in the Olympics). So does Buffalo (14-year drought) and San Jose (6-year drought).
Also, Seattle is on the fringe and only has one playoff appearance. The Seahawks just won the Super Bowl, Mariners went to the ALCS, and the NBA has the city on the short list for expansion. They’ve got every reason to do something stupid.
Could an equitable deal be had? Maybe… but I’m looking for stupid. Equitable can wait to the offseason. Give me your dumb, desperate, eager to overpay.

Or just hold on to the guy and have yourself a very good center.BleedingBleu wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 04:53 am Just because this season is a loss doesn’t mean that next year is, too. We shouldn't be desperate to do any other team any favors. Kryou could leave us and light it up upon leaving. IT wouldn't surprise me for the amount of scapegoating he gets that he rejuvenates his career elsewhere. So here is what I would take.
1.) First round pick is required for us to continue talking.
2.) First round pick potential prospect from a previous year and we can get to the final piece
3.) Your choice we take an expiring contract or we pay for two years of Kryou in exchange for a #2.
If they don't like that, no problem we will keep him.

Re: What is the MIN offer you would accept for Kyrou?
Jordan Kyrou’s time in St. Louis is running out — and it’s his own inconsistency that put him there. The talent and speed are obvious, but the effort and urgency just aren’t there often enough. One hot stretch doesn’t erase long stretches of invisible hockey.
If he played with real intensity most nights, he’d be a star. Instead, you never know which version you’re getting. At this point, a trade feels less like an option and more like the inevitable outcome. A new team might light a fire under him — because it clearly hasn’t happened here.

you are correct, sir!
Re: What is the MIN offer you would accept for Kyrou?
The same can be said for most of this team. At least keep the guy that can put the puck in the net on a team almost dead last in scoringManitobaBlues wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 08:29 amJordan Kyrou’s time in St. Louis is running out — and it’s his own inconsistency that put him there. Not every team is built like Florida, and despite the Panthers’ success, not every GM thinks their own team should be built that way.
JK is an excellent hockey player.
He just doesn’t play the type of game StL expects. Period.
There are undoubtedly numerous teams that covet JK’s speed and shot, and will happily pay if the time is right.
Is the time right?
That’s when DA will and should trade JK with a StL style player coming back. A ‘culture’ player. He might not be as skilled but he should be infinitely more ’willed’.
An additional good but not great pick will balance it out.
My .02

Well, if the culture player is a younger 70 point player who forechecks effectively, plays with more physicality, and is solid defensively, then sure.SweeneyAstray wrote: ↑17 Feb 2026 10:10 am Not every team is built like Florida, and despite the Panthers’ success, not every GM thinks their own team should be built that way.

I think that we have to be prepared that when Kyrou (if) he is traded that he likely kicks it into gear and the trade doesn't look good in the near term.
