Walker and Gorman?

Post by Cardinals1964 »

If they have All Star years do you think the Cardinals will be better or worse than if a waiver player is mediocre? What if Church is average? Will he be the difference maker?
This is the silly things that people post everyday.

What if they fire Marmol and hirer the best manager alive today in your opinion? What’s a Manager’s WAR?

I think they have a better chance than Church and Saggese. The pride of CT posters.
Being an All-Star doesn’t take much. Donovan was an appointed All-Star.
Cards are guaranteed to have one.

So do i understand this right?

If both Walker and Gorman have very good years, is that better than a waiver player having a kind of decent year?

Is this a trick question?

[*]I’m hopeful that this development team works with Walker and get him productive. He has so much upside it would be terrible to not unlock that.

A key for Walker will be 'thinking LESS' at the plate .

In golf, one of the great instructors Harvey Penick taught some of his finest pupils (Ben Crenshaw /Tom Kite) when you are ready to make a swing .. just 'let it happen'.
You don't mechanically think .. do this, do that , etc.

Ex . Crenshaw in a pro-am scorched a fairway wood perfectly. The amateur impressed by the shot asked Crenshaw ..'What were you thinking just prior to hitting that beauty ? Crenshaw paused and said 'Actually, I wasn't thinking of anything. I just let it happen.
Later, Crenshaw remarked 'It's when we clutter our mind with all sorts of things that we don't perform at our best.

Walker has made changes that has given him confidence. Now he needs to go to the plate and 'let it happen ' not 'think about .. do this . do that.
Relax and let your subconscious take over. 'Let it happen '

IF (boy that's a huge one) both Gorman and Walker are voted into the All Star game as starters and continue that level of play for the 162 games ... 1- the Cards will be in the playoffs. If they continue to play at that level through the playoffs, the Cards have a chance at the WS.

Think about what I said and think about what it would take for both to be voted in as starters.

I'll take my chances on Church and Saggese. Maybe not becoming All Star types. But becoming very solid MLB players.

The way they've played last year Gorman + Walker's stats together wouldn't make an all-star player. 8O
