I am not sure how a Blues fan could root against Binnington here. I want him to win, I want him to inflate his trade value, and I want many interested in him come the deadline.
And I want him to stay in Saint Louis.
Amen to this!
Easily my favorite Blue (next to Pronger) and would be thrilled if he played his entire career in STL and got a statue.
He had me at "Do I look nervous?" Honestly, that's the statue.
And it should play Ginuwine's "Pony" when you walk by.

Perfect.

That and to say nothing of what he still has to offer.
People here are crazy to want to move him.
Finally got that franchise goalie and fans want to (bleep) all over him. I don't get it. Seriously cannot remember a time being a Blues fan with an internet connection where there weren't people whining about the goalie no matter how good they were playing.
The more infuriating part is this. Colton Parayko having a career year? Trade him at max value. Binner proving he still has it. Trade him!!! Faulk showing he is a good player. Trade HIM!!!!! There's a large contingent of fans that aren't real fans or don't know what following a team and rooting them on looks like. I've said it already, but I'll say it again. They would rather see the team burn and be right than see the team be good. And then when the team does well, they hide but secretly are enjoying the spoils that come with that as well, such as the energy in the city, the fan base being excited etc etc. They all shut up and hide and enjoy that side. These aren't real fans. They are the epitome of fair weather.
Not sure who you're talking about, but I take issue.
I'm all for trading Parayko, Binner, and Faulk. None of them will be within their athletic peaks when the Blues can expect to be better. We've seen this same core underwhelm for three or four straight seasons - it'd be insanity to run it back.
So I start by trading out the misfit pieces. I don't think Kyrou fits the way the Blues are built - maybe moving on from him is enough to improve the outcome? But that isn't likely (you're either trading Kyrou for futures, or another misfit piece - it's highly unlikely you're actually upgrading the roster in a Kyrou move).
If the roster isn't made better by moving out Kyrou, then why keep the other veterans who will be too old in 3-4 years? That's Parayko, Schenn, Faulk, Binnington. Thomas will still be young enough, so I keep him unless I get a ridiculous offer (four Top 15 equivalent picks sounds about right).
Binner? He's the hardest to replace. If he wants to be here through another rebuild, he's earned that right. But I'd talk to him about it and see what's out there.
Parayko? I'm not sure where his back will be in 2-3 years. Sell high.
Faulk? I'm not sure how much he'll have left in 2-3 years. Sell high.
Schenn? I doubt he'll have much left in 2-3 years, so I'm tempted to sell high. But he's the captain, and he's earned the right to stay.
I root for them to win every game and take comfort in the knowledge that each loss brings us closer to a potential stud to rebuild around. There's nothing fair weather about that - if anything, it's borne out of a hatred of seeing just how badly this roster has been capable of playing.
disregarding the homie that has been ran thru more than seattle slew.. I'm not saying don't trade these guys. There are moves that need to be made. I just find it hilarious that when a player has played well here over the last 4 years, the first inclination is to trade them. So during this post ROR regime, anytime a player has stepped their game up, the "fans" ask for a trade. They want the franchise to take a step further back. These are the fair weather fans I am talking about. They will just gravitate like a moth to the flame of the next guy that starts doing well. This isn't in isolation of this year. This is in regards to the last few seasons as a whole. There has to be some strategy behind the trades. For the record.
I am in favor of trading: Binner, Faulk, Schenn, Kyrou, Suter, Joseph, Sunny, Walker. But there has to be legitimate strategy behind how and why you are doing it. Reason that Thomas, Buchy, Parayko, Fowler are left on that list is because either their contract is too valuable to the Blues, or their production isn't enough for what the return would be.
Binner = free to move. If he wants to stay, and he voices that he will sign a friendly deal, he can stay.
Faulk = the prudent move is to keep him until next year. If you trade him, you have to sign some1 to a one year deal anyways because you don't have the guy to play next year. Hard to go into a season like that and you aren't finding a better player per dollar amount there.
Schenn = can trade him. I love schenn. It will leave a massive void in the locker room. But it's his decision to stay or go.
Kyrou = he's the most logical shakeup. I like what's going on with the Kyrou/Buchy/Neighbours line. But if someone gives you value for kyrou that is equal, I think it's time to bite. Would not hold out for a ransom, and wouldn't sell low. Hockey trade
Suter = I think he really needs to stay if you are dealing Sunny.
Joseph = I like Joseph, but if someone finds value than take it
Walker = I don't think the Blues feel the same way I do. He feels like he limits our 4th line potential. If Buchy works out in center, there's a world where you can drop Suter to 4th line and actually have a talented line out there that can play multiple styles. Walker is 1 dimensional.
That's what I mean by not just latching onto the newest thing.
