Zak Kent AGAIN
The Cardinals picked up Zak Kent on waivers for the second time this off season. DFA Bryan Ramos. We just picked him up on waivers earlier and DFA him and the Rangers picked him up on waivers. The Rangers DFA him and we re-pick him up on waivers again. We've spent $100K on this guy already.
Re: Zak Kent AGAIN
Dec 5, 2025: Cardinals first claimed Kent (from Cleveland).
Jan 9, 2026: Rangers claimed him off waivers from St. Louis.
Feb 16, 2026: Cardinals claimed him back from Texas.

G-damnit, was hoping we we give a look to Ramos, what is his deal?
I know he is not Tatis or anything, but young enough to eventually turn it around??
How do guys like Roycroft, Raquet and Pushard keep spots???
And trading Granillo for a older and worse RHP???
Weird stuff from Bloom

The Cardinals now send Ramos back to DFA limbo just 10 days after claiming him. The 23-year-old infielder had spent his entire career in the White Sox organization before being dealt for cash to the Orioles a couple of weeks back. He’ll provide depth in the minors if St. Louis can get him through waivers.

Re: Zak Kent AGAIN
I read that both of those moves were made because they would likely clear waivers and still be able to remain in the organization . Granillo would have been claimed. If they find someone they deem worth adding Soriano will be released and likely left unclaimed. In this senerio you added four players and only give up Granillo. Will have to wait and see but that's the logic.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 15:06 pm G-damnit, was hoping we we give a look to Ramos, what is his deal?

Granillo had options, he didn't have to be waived.TopofthePerch wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 16:30 pmI read that both of those moves were made because they would likely clear waivers and still be able to remain in the organization . Yes but if they are adding a player to the 40 man and Granillo was the guy you would drop off he would still have to clear waivers to be removed from the 40 man. That's what I was speaking of. Not just sending him to the minors. They may view 39 other players as more worthy.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 16:44 pmGranillo had options, he didn't have to be waived.TopofthePerch wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 16:30 pmI read that both of those moves were made because they would likely clear waivers and still be able to remain in the organization . Re: Zak Kent AGAIN
Yea now watch Ramos will be claimed. Then Soriano will be released to add someone else to the 40 and also get claimed. Then we could have just kept Kent and GranilloTalkin' Baseball wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 17:08 pmThat's true. Wow. That surprises me. I thought Ramis was a safe, no risk option for the team.

Im aware of this, but if someone claims him I dont think they can pull him back, I could be wrong on this though. Not sure.82birds wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 16:11 pmfrom MLBTR:Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 15:18 pm82birds wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 15:17 pmwe still can if nobody puts in a waiver claim, right?Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 15:06 pm G-damnit, was hoping we we give a look to Ramos, what is his deal?

Re: Zak Kent AGAIN
Kent and Ramos are in similar situations.
If they clear waivers, they can be outrighted and sent to AAA without leaving the organization that sent them through waivers.
