'The Build ' or the 'Rebuild' ?
McGreevy was interviewed at TC . He mentioned former Cardinal P Lance Lynn called the Cardinals new transition as 'the Build' .
So for some , we may not be in a 'rebuild' just simply a 'build' moment. Like 'build' it and they will come ! lol
Get a chuckle over the semantics used to describe it . Does it make any difference what this new phase is called ?

If you call it a build, you don't have to acknowledge that you let things go to (bleep). No ownership of a failed model, or execution- we're simply "building".

I mean technically it is tore down right now and it's being built back up.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 14:00 pm If you call it a build, you don't have to acknowledge that you let things go to (bleep). No ownership of a failed model, or execution- we're simply "building".

That was basically BDWJr’s narrative at the big press conference: we’ve had a lot of success with our player development, we’re excited about all the prospects in the system and the young guys on the MLB roster and think we’ve done a good job, but, oh, by the way, we’re announcing “significant” organizational changes and turning over most of the front office and player development leadership.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 14:00 pm If you call it a build, you don't have to acknowledge that you let things go to (bleep). Look at who they traded:ramfandan wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 13:39 pm McGreevy was interviewed at TC . He mentioned former Cardinal P Lance Lynn called the Cardinals new transition as 'the Build' .

1. Gray 36 years old / 1 year left: That is not a big loss.
2. Arenado: Not a big loss. Actually, him being traded might be a GAIN for the roster.
3. Contreras: Love him, but only 2 years left and plays 1B (which is a little easier to fill)
4. Donovan: Love him, but only 2 years left on his deal and probably not worth an extension. Not to mention JJ is almost here.
That is the most modest teardown in a 'rebuild' I have ever seen.
They are already in 'build' mode.

I agree with you on this. I think In all honesty the so called re-tool years have made it to where it doesn't have to be a complete tear down.ecleme22 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 16:44 pmLook at who they traded:ramfandan wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 13:39 pm McGreevy was interviewed at TC . Doesn’t matter at all what you call it.ramfandan wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 13:39 pm McGreevy was interviewed at TC . He mentioned former Cardinal P Lance Lynn called the Cardinals new transition as 'the Build' .

Re: 'The Build ' or the 'Rebuild' ?
My house burned down once. Did I rebuild it or build it? I used a different floor plan so I didn’t really rebuild it. I used the same ground, so maybe I did rebuild it. All I know is my house is better now than during the fire.
I did care more about the foundation than the hinges used on the doors.
Foundation = Gorman, Walker.
Hinge = waiver pickups.

It might say that the team was so lacking talent that there wasn’t much to tear down.45s wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 20:48 pmYour comments are insightful…ecleme22 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 16:44 pmLook at who they traded:ramfandan wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 13:39 pm McGreevy was interviewed at TC . If that is how they want to spin it, so be it. BDW let Johnny bow ties drive the franchise into the Mississippi. Bill didn't realize how much the roster and development was slipping because he was counting the $$.
Now, the turnstiles have slowed, seats are empty, and beer sales have plummeted. Now old Billy is taking notice. So he has slashed payroll and given the reigns to a guy experienced in building cheap rosters. Make no mistake, this change of course is about making $. Winning is a distant secondary thought.

I always make business decisions to lose cash. Guess that’s why I’m broke.JuanAgosto wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 21:04 pm If that is how they want to spin it, so be it. If Billy built a real roster, they'd win and make $. Not hard to understand.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 21:06 pmI always make business decisions to lose cash.
