So, we fire coach Gates now? You really need to stop posting after losses. Anyone that thought that this team was definitely Tourney bound after that win hasn't really watched this team this season. Pierce disappeared like he regularly does. He came out for his one game a month and it cost the team. That's just who he/this team is. Start looking forward to the NIT as I don't see more than two wins the rest of the way.California Cardinal Fan wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 22:17 pm You just tossed it all away, everything you had gained, with with an indescribably bad display of basketball. My intention was not to attack you personally. I just think your unrealistic expectations deserve scrutiny. Why was this game all of a sudden the most important one of the season? Were the Florida, Kentucky and A&M games less important? And the Tigers won those games. The Texas game was not a gimme by any means.California Cardinal Fan wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 23:56 pmI think predictability is the way you feel a need to attack me personally whenever you are unhappy with what I say.icon wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 23:44 pm You're so predictable after every loss. You were saying their season was over after their record stood at 4-4, and then they win 3 straight, and you're back on the bandwagon until tonight. They can still make a statement at home by taking 2 of 3 from Vandy, Tennessee and Arky. Will they? We shall see. Too many players are mercurial. And every team has them. Just like you as a fan.
This team is wildly inconsistent. I would suggest that you adjust your expectations accordingly.

Re: Congratulations Tigers
I'm with you. After attending that embarrassing display vs IL, I was expecting a long ugly season. Fortunately, things looked a whole lot better after wins vs FL & KY. We're not as bad as I thought we were, but obviously, not very consistent. The only consistent thing about this squad is its inconsistency. At least this season is interesting. I thought we were improving, but this loss threw cold water on that momentum. Can we put together enough good efforts to get into the Dance? Maybe, but will they be able to play well enough to get on a roll once in? We have talent. Effort & eliminating stupid s__t are things we need to see. We saw TX sticking to us on D, setting better screens, making sharp cuts on O & blocking out & hustling for rebounds. We should try that.Sophrosyne wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 10:05 amYeah, it was a bad game - kinda hard to watch. Those things happen. The guys are going to have good games and bad games. This team is middle of the pack. Every game has been and will be difficult. I am surprised we are 7-5 - actually quite thankful we have won 7 at this point, and still in the running. If we can just eek out 3 more conference wins, to get to 10-8, we will likely make the NCAA tournament. That would be a success. Fingers crossed!!California Cardinal Fan wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 22:17 pm You just tossed it all away, everything you had gained, with with an indescribably bad display of basketball. Agree, and Texas also shot very well in the midrange game. They played a strong game.MizzouMarv wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 15:37 pmI'm with you. You really need to stop trying to advise others what to post and just manage your own. Want to keep this going, or shall we each manage ourselves let others do the same?onemizzou wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 11:13 amSo, we fire coach Gates now? You really need to stop posting after losses. OK, but I'll leave you with this. You were a teacher. Did you expect all your students to equally perform on assignments? These Tigers just aren't good enough to ace enough assignments. They overperform and then underperform. They are not a top tier team, so having top tier expectations is going to lead to your inevitable disgust and disappointment when they lose. You even said at one point you were done with the program. You do tend to overreact more than others. But I've been guilty at times as well. We always have the hope that they have 'fixed' it when they string together a couple of good games but the reality is they could realistically win out or lose out from here and anything in between.
Texas is a lot like Mizzou. They overperformed in that game. There were quite a few possessions were the Tigers guarded really well and the horns just hit ridiculously tough shots.

Good point! Texas was kind of lucky against Mizzou. Their luck could run out!
Texas has a rough schedule left against Florida, Texas A &M, Arkansas & Oklahoma. They can lose a lot of games.
I would also like to add that Georgia is similar to Mizzou but right now Georgia is in really bad shape at making the tournament.
Everyone says Georgia has a better resume than Mizzou.
Well, Georgia is 5 & 7 in conference play and they travel to Kentucky,
If they lose to the Wildcats, they are 5 & 8 and have an uphill battle to make the tourney.
I would argue I would rather be in Mizzou's situation than Georgia.
Re: Congratulations Tigers
We are what we are by past games and anyone paying attention should not be surprised by the Texas game.
I'm a homer so I always look forward and that's exactly what I'll do for the remaining games.
I honestly think Missouri will find a way to get in.

Your second question is pretty silly.Lightning Rod wrote: ↑16 Feb 2026 10:20 am If we make the tourney and lose in the first-round would everyone consider the season a success?
