I think they will win between 67 and 72 games in 2026.

They didn't ask for the Astros record.

Weak….very weak..

Nevertheless……

Let’s wager on best record……?

(and no, you can’t have the Astros)

71-91 sounds about right, they are talent deficit, sounds like the recent Pittsburgh Pirates for last 10 years.

72. Far too many ifs for many more than that. And that's not a complaint. It's just a matter of fact with a rebuild.

I guess I am an optimist. My prediction is based on a few performance outcomes.

Hitting: I think the keys are performance by these three players.
Gorman, Walker and Scott improvements need to be significant.

Pitching - Starters: I think the keys are how quickly we can sort out the candidates.
Candidates in order of my expectations: (* Not on 40-man)
McGreevy, Liberatore, Leahy, Dobbins, *Mathews, Pallante, Fitts, *Henderson, ….
Did I miss someone?

Depending on how well this develops, I would guess wins in the range of 76 to 92 wins.
Between zero and 162.

They should score 20 fewer runs and allow 20 more runs in 2026 compared to last year. That's 669 runs scored and 774 runs allowed - a .428 winning percentage. So 69-93.

Surprise, World Series

No one’s more optimistic than me. Life is more enjoyable being an optimist. IMHO. I’m going to put $100 on the cards in Vegas to win the World Series. Could make a nice return in Vegas. I’ve never played the lotto but a once a year bet on your team proves that you believe!! Right?
I love your optimism! My thinking is that most of it depends on Walker and Gorman. If they play like last year....we probably are looking at 90 losses. If by some great miracle they become what we had thought.......we could win 85. The starting pitching will also determine a lot.

I'm sticking with 45-117. There are only 4 keepers in this entire 26 man roster. 5 if Wetherholt makes it. Need another high draft pick or three.

I would give one projection for the games played before The Marmot is fired, and another for the games which follow.

Imagine how pleased you will be with the 2027 draft when the Cardinals may get the No. 1 pick in the draft . Get a Paul Skenes type pitcher or some hot shot position bat .. a Bryce Harper type etc.
Can a player not sign with the drafting team and re-enter the following year’s draft?
You know the answer to this- it happened to your Astros.
