Virtually every minor signing gets its own thread but nothing until now on ex-Card Shelby Miller's deal with the Cubs? He will sit this year after Tommy John so it's essentially a one yr deal for 2.5 plus incentives. Given how well he pitched last year it looks like a smart move by the Cubs.

and of course it is possible he never pitches one inning for the cubs.Mort Gage wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 10:00 am https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/02/ ... iller.html

That goes for about every pitcher and the team they signed with.12xu wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 10:09 amand of course it is possible he never pitches one inning for the cubs.Mort Gage wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 10:00 am https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/02/ ... iller.html

Re: New Cub Shelby Miller
Yes, but Miller will definitely not pitch in 2026 due to TJ surgery, and of course his return in '27 may be iffy because of possible lockout, even if he is physically able to pitch. He will be 37 years old in 2027. So, every other pitcher is not in his type of situation.OldRed wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 10:11 amThat goes for about every pitcher and the team they signed with.12xu wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 10:09 amand of course it is possible he never pitches one inning for the cubs.Mort Gage wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 10:00 am https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/02/ ... iller.html

My point was every pitcher is one pitch away from injury.12xu wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 11:06 amYes, but Miller will definitely not pitch in 2026 due to TJ surgery, and of course his return in '27 may be iffy because of possible lockout, even if he is physically able to pitch. Re: New Cub Shelby Miller
Horrible comparison. Not every other pitcher is on a one year deal, while not being able to pitch during that one year.OldRed wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 10:11 amThat goes for about every pitcher and the team they signed with.12xu wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 10:09 amand of course it is possible he never pitches one inning for the cubs.Mort Gage wrote: ↑14 Feb 2026 10:00 am https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/02/ ... iller.html
