3) Burleson, 4) Herrera 5) Castellanos. At least to start the season. The need is there and the price is right to give Castellanos a chance. If it doesn't work out. Cut him. He might just become a decent trade piece at the trade deadline.

With all due respect ......you’re doing it again!
You started the same thread yesterday about Castellanos.
The vast majority of the responses were against acquiring him.
And I gave a respectful answer then.

Do you actually believe the Cardinals have a better potential #5 hitter at the present time than Castellanos? I don't. Like I said, there's a need and the price is right to give Castellanos a chance. IMO

You don’t have to respect him. We all mutually agreed not to a while ago.

No. As was the case yesterday. We don’t need a number five hitter. We are rebuilding.
You’ve got to understand this.

You seem quite content to endure a long season. Dog, a followup. Wouldn't it be cool if this young team could sneak into the playoffs as a wildcard? Think of the experience and confidence that would provide them for the future. Adding an experienced hitter like Castellanos might help that be accomplished.Shady wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 18:58 pmYou seem quite content to endure a long season. What, your trolling post earlier today about Bloom, not get enough action for you? I noticed you had to keep bumping that masterpiece as well. You are one sad individual!
Re: This might be a better MOTO than what the Cardinals currently have going
You don’t seem to comprehend exactly what is transpiring with this team.Shady wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 18:54 pmDo you actually believe the Cardinals have a better potential #5 hitter at the present time than Castellanos? Here it is:
Going younger.
Which means some new guys(JJ, Fitts, Dobbins, etc)
plus returning guys who NEED PT(Walker, Gorman, Noot, etc) as 2026 may become their make or break season?
Why on earth would you want to throw a vet into the mix to TAKE AWAY from that NEEDED PT??????????
The fact that Castellanos undoubtedly will out produce those guys is a moot point!
This team is not a major contender and they need ANSWERS on certain players moving forward.
We don’t need a declining vet getting in the way of that.
Now....this has been explained to you on multiple occasions.
Please allow it to sink in.
You actually had a better idea when you suggested a Saggese/Church platoon.

Well...since I have no idea where he is coming from just keeping it light.Banner29 wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 18:55 pm

Nothing said here is exactly life altering! LOL
Re: This might be a better MOTO than what the Cardinals currently have going
I think it’s a great idea to sign him. It’s stabilizes the lineup and if he does well, you flip him before the deadline for a prospect or two. If he sucks, you cut him. It buys you time for Noot to be 100% and for Baez to get AAA at bats.

I’m not Bulldog, but let me take a shot at this.Shady wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 18:58 pmYou seem quite content to endure a long season. Like most here I’ve been a fan a long time. I suffered (relatively speaking) the ‘70’s and ‘90’s. I loved Whitey’s good teams in the ‘80’s. I got spoiled by the teams in the 2000s. The last 10 years have not been like that at all, I believe the organization got stuck in a rut with their approach, and I want them to get back to the glory days. Limping along, just hoping to grab a WC, isn’t what I want. I want them to build a team that can dominate the division and be a true contender for titles. I know they won’t win every year — even in the powerhouse eras that didn’t happen. But it always felt like there was a chance. That’s not been the case for a long time. So I am willing to let them rebuild. Things didn’t fall apart overnight and I know it won’t be rebuilt overnight. So if we have to watch a couple rough seasons while they reconstruct themselves, I can live with that.
I consider it an investment. I get the argument that even short playoff experience would help the kids, and I wouldn’t turn it down, but if the better thing in the long term would be to forego Band-Aids that MIGHT make things look a little better this season, I’ll take that option every day and twice and Sunday.
So yeah, it may be a long season, but if it leads to a long run of excellence, it’s a fair trade in my mind.

If Castellanos was a game changer to push a team to the next level, he'd be on a team already.Shady wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 19:21 pmDog, a followup. Let me ask you this. Who do you sit if you sign him?
You'd have to sit one of Walker, Burly, Ivan, Gorman, or Saggese. All these guys need all the ABs possible to see if they're part of the future.

Yes sir. It would be Coolio. The problem is we are committing to youth. We believe the young guys will produce at the same kevel with no baggage.Shady wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 19:21 pmDog, a followup. That’s why we are saturating the team in areas- young pitching, young infielders. Next will be young outfielders, next off season.
Saggese and Church are better ideas.
