What is the MINIMUM ask for Binnington you'd take.
To those open to actively shopping #50 this year. So much back and forth, if you think he should be moved "to help the team" what do you envision trading him for??
Re: What is the MINIMUM ask for Binnington you'd take.
How about early 2nd rounder or decent prospect.

No offense to the OP, but see the other Binny thread.

Hey may not be worth a first, but that's my ask. I rather keep him and have him backup Hofer than take a second for him. He is showing us again that he rises to the occasion when it's a meaningful game. There are many technically sound goalies, but few have that characteristic to take their game to another level.

Ready to play top-6 or top-4 prospect or a top-10 pick. If you ask him to waive make sure he realizes you didn't sell him cheap.

Sir, it’s been one game and now Canada is facing Switzerland. Not exactly a powerhouse.hockey jedi wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 15:03 pm Hey may not be worth a first, but that's my ask. Minimum of a First Round and prospect or NHL ready goalie
Re: What is the MINIMUM ask for Binnington you'd take.
If you trade Binnington, you do know you have to get a goalie back in the trade don't you? Outside of Binny and Hofer, there is no one on the farm who is NHL ready. So, in short, are you addressing your need for offense?

Re: What is the MINIMUM ask for Binnington you'd take.
It isn't a question of who they play. It is the issue of expectations and pressure. It was there in the 4Nations tournament, and in this tournament it is ten fold. It is why Canada has a very slight advantage over Team USA. Binnington and Kuemper both have Cup rings. Binnington contributed a bit more than Kuemper - but both had to deal with a boatload of pressure. Binnington as the underdog and Kuemper as the favorite. Recall that the Avs were just dummying teams during their run to a Cup and Kuemper was - for all intents and purposes - the weakest link. But he fought through it and won.
(Thompson won a Cup in Vegas, but wasn't the starter.)
The same cannot be said of the US goalies. Neither Hellybuck, Swayman or Ottinger have won a Cup. Otter did go to the conference Finals last year, but didn't fare well at all in his Game Seven vs. the Oil.
Outside of how they handle the pressure and the expectations, these teams are awfully close.

No. They don’t. Zherenko is as ready as he’ll ever be - it’s to be determined if he’s NHL material, but you don’t know what you have at the NHL level until you play them. And the Blues can easily sign a backup goalie this offseason if they don’t feel Zherenko is up to the task. The hard part is finding a starter; the Blues have that. Finding a backup is not hard.

we often dismiss good goalie performances vs weak nhl teams in the nhl, but we are lauding a guy vs a team made up of many okay nhl playwrs. bottom line nhl players, and nhl washouts? only canada itself, usa and russia are usually good enough to beat nhl teams most years.hockey jedi wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 15:03 pm Hey may not be worth a first, but that's my ask. binny played well. but i think you heavily overrats what these games mean regarding trade valze. playwrs have been awesome internationally and sucked in fhe nhl.
binny has a stacked canada team behind him. i dont think this tournament should change his trade value no matter how he plays one way or anither

Wattage JB is a Cup winner/4 Nations winner (high) and coming off a pretty poor first half of the year (low).Wattage wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 16:17 pmwe often dismiss good goalie performances vs weak nhl teams in the nhl, but we are lauding a guy vs a team made up of many okay nhl playwrs. bottom line nhl players, and nhl washouts? only canada itself, usa and russia are usually good enough to beat nhl teams most years.hockey jedi wrote: ↑13 Feb 2026 15:03 pm Hey may not be worth a first, but that's my ask. While I would agree he cannot drop much in value, I do not agree he cannot increase his value...even dramatically...on this huge stage.

there are teams looking to dump goalies, and if they have a year or 2 at most, you could easily take on a dump and get a late pick.

Minimum ask a #1, grade A prospect and asecond. Don’t want to pay that, go elsewhere.
