It might be the one year fix in the outfield the Cardinals need until Baez is ready for the MLB.
This might be the move to make for outfield help

So with the current outfield situation. Is a platoon of Church and Saggese in LF about as good as any scenario? If not, what is your suggestion for LF if Herrera pans out at catcher?
Re: This might be the move to make for outfield help
He was just released by the Phillies which everyone anticipated for awhile now. He can be picked up for the league minimum now. But he isn't the type of guy we are looking for. He will go somewhere else.
Re: This might be the move to make for outfield help
nootbaar when healthy. Castellanos released today. Nobody wants to touch that clown

Re: This might be the move to make for outfield help
There is no projected major power in left. Walker when he hits. That’s next off season project- outfielders.
Re: This might be the move to make for outfield help
We don't have much power. We won't have it in 2026. That's the reality. It will not come from Castellanos. 1 - he is beyond awful defensively, 2 - he doesn't have much power anymore, he hit under 20 home runs in PHILLY where Nootbaar could probably hit 22-25 and Burleson upper 20s, 3 - he's an absolute clubhouse cancer.
You are far better off using in house options. If you want outside help at outfield that's fine, but it cannot be Castellanos
Re: This might be the move to make for outfield help
With all due respect.....you need to table the OF “power” concern for now.
First of all....how about we figure out:
Can Scott make enough contact and raise his OBP so his speed becomes a big factor?
Can Walker improve his plate discipline and become a more consistent hitter?
Can Noot stay healthy and FINALLY stop being a tease?
Is Church a player?
Does Herrera’s bat play better in LF?
Enough with the fixation on power.
What do YOU THINK?????

Read where Scott worked quite a bit this offseason on bunting improvement. He sure needed upgrade . If he goes from subpar to even above average that could help the team quite a bit.Cusecards wrote: ↑12 Feb 2026 14:10 pmWith all due respect.....you need to table the OF “power” concern for now.

A skilled bunter with his base speed is a true weapon.

There is little upside to getting a temporary player IMO.Cusecards wrote: ↑12 Feb 2026 14:10 pmWith all due respect.....you need to table the OF “power” concern for now.

I'd much rather see how it plays out is bad as it may be.
Now if they find an higher upside player through a trade, all for it.

Castellanos was released so it wouldn't cost much if he clears waivers but he had issues with some other players on the Phillies.

He will clear waivers. No one wants his salary.HOUCARD wrote: ↑12 Feb 2026 14:19 pm Cards are #11 on wavier claims behind:

How about getting Mike Sirota from the Dodgers in a deal for Romero?renostl wrote: ↑12 Feb 2026 14:49 pmThere is little upside to getting a temporary player IMO.Cusecards wrote: ↑12 Feb 2026 14:10 pmWith all due respect.....you need to table the OF “power” concern for now.

Per BTV,
Sirora: 22.1
Romero: 6.3
What else are you prepared to add to the package (that the Dodgers would actually want)? Keep in mind that trading valuable prospects and rostered players with several years of control is entirely counterproductive to the rebuild.
