Once again, who performs best in any given game depends on the matchups with the other team!

Phillips may have had his good and bad moments, but if we had him the year we lost to Norfork St, he would have been the difference maker. We aren't having to rely on just 1-2 players anymore (lately). Stone was off shooting, but Pierce and others picked it up. Perhaps this is a surprise year that we make it past the first 2 rounds.

Pierce was outstanding against Texas A & M. He's made some nice progress since his freshmen season.

Pierce needs to play 40 minutes.

Phillips was impactful. And he should only be shooting on dunks and putbacks. Anything he tries to create, requiring even the most simple footwork, is an adventure. Going back to that lob was a bold choice considering the first time he managed to miss the dunk. Now, if he could just consistently eliminate those things that he does so often that are dumb beyond belief that almost always result in a tech...that would be even better.

Also, Phillips must not put the ball on the floor when very close (2' to 3') to the basket.

I like that he plays with an edge...team has needed that inside for the last few years.

I just wish he wouldn't sometimes cross the line in doing so.

Team has certainly shown confidence in him in some big moments.

I don't know how as a senior you finally get him to stop bringing the ball down on catches and rebounds.

That boat has sailed.

The guy definitely has some skills and when he doesn't play out of control he definitely makes a difference. You would think after all the time he has spent playing basketball he would be more mentally and fundamentally sound. Let's hope he continues to play like he did at A&M, we need him.

Someone needs to slowly explain to him that he's 7 feet tall so don't hold the ball at chest level where the smallest guard can get a steal.

The most perplexing thing is the two of you are crazy enough to believe this happens only to Mizzou's big men.

You wrote "our big men" and "perplexing"

It can't be perplexing for Mizzou's big men, when it's a real thing with a lot of players on a a lot of different teams.

I like Phillips’ potential. The problem is he’s running out of time. He plays like Carl from Slingblade too much of the time and can be a huge liability. He was in danger of going off the reservation a couple times Wednesday, but his teammates brought him back. Here’s hoping the Aggie game was the beginning of a change for him.
