Interesting tidbit from the upcoming MLB the Show 26 game

1:15 of the video.
Apparently in this year's edition of the game there are players called "untouchables" - players the team will not trade. For the Cardinals their two players are Winn and Herrera.

Is that game any good? I haven’t played a baseball game in a while.

Been playing that game since the mid 2000s, its current state has been stale for a long time.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 11:09 am Is that game any good? I haven’t played a baseball game in a while.

This. I only pick up a new version every few years and it honestly plays almost exactly as it did 10 years ago.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 11:18 amBeen playing that game since the mid 2000s, its current state has been stale for a long time.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 11:09 am Is that game any good? BUT, it’s still an all-around great baseball game if it’s been awhile or you’re new to it. It just hasn’t improved in a big way in years.

Yeah I may skip this year's version, doesn't look like it has moved the needle an inch for 2026 either. One reason is that they seem to be catering to the Switch version which is a far lesser version of the PS5/Series X/S, so they really cant advance to true next gen without leaving the Switch behind

I think most of the sports games have hit their ceilings. All that is really left with each generation is you hope for better and smoother graphics, otherwise much of the game play changes have been minuscule for about 5-6 years.bluetunehead wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 11:28 amThis. The only reason to get the new versions is to get the rosters and very likely any updated ratings good or bad.

Winn isn't an "untouchable" to me.
My two would be Hererra and JJW.

It is pretty good but how good is subjective. I play in manage mode in franchise mode where I don't control the players and just manage the games and do all the front office business. There are other modes as well but they are heavily microtransactions whereas franchise is can be played without the microtransactions.Cardinals1964 wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 11:09 am Is that game any good? Re: Interesting tidbit from the upcoming MLB the Show 26 game
A lot of people especially in franchise mode are skipping one or more years because they removed year to year saves from the game forcing to have to throw away your franchise and start from scratch to get a few minor upgrades. Still if you haven't played the game you would probably like it.Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 11:49 ambluetunehead wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 11:28 amThis. Thanks. Is it realistic or more arcade? If it’s realistic and not a bunch of flash I’ll pick it up. What I mean by arcade, will your player turn into a muscle bound guy that can hit a ball 1000 feet?Jobu's Rum wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 11:49 ambluetunehead wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 11:28 amThis. It’s definitely more simulation/realistic than arcade. Furthest I’ve launched one was 510ft. If you’re new definitely pick it up.
Re: Interesting tidbit from the upcoming MLB the Show 26 game
If you’re on the fence about getting the game I’d buy last years or the 24 edition. It’ll be way cheaper and you can download up to date rosters with majority of minor leaguers in proper spots (for franchise mode anyway).
Love the game, but I’ve skipped last couple and will do the same this year.

My game pre-electronic and computer based was always Strat-0-Matic. Very realistic.
