so true !NYCardsFan wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 14:56 pmDefinitely a lot of interesting material in there on not just the prospects themselves, but also the new FO personnel and core processes and focus areas.
after reading that, I'm very glad Cerfolio is on our side.

The part that caught my attention is that they have been looking at other organizations players and the players career trajectory and where they may take them if they acquire them. Maybe that’s why they picked up Soriano. It’s similar to what Dave Duncan used to do82birds wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 15:00 pmso true !NYCardsFan wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 14:56 pmDefinitely a lot of interesting material in there on not just the prospects themselves, but also the new FO personnel and core processes and focus areas.

This explains a lot about the Donovan trade:
David Laurila: Your club recently acquired Jurrangelo Cijntje from Seattle. I assume you and Matt Pierpont — he used to be with the Mariners — were part of the in-house trade discussions?
Rob Cerfolio: “Yes, our director of pitching, Matt Pierpont, had Jurrangelo for half a year before I hired him over here. We did have input.

Thanks for the post, NY! Cerfolio is a sharp baseball guy. We are lucky to have him. Also, this was a nice peak into the Cards new player development system.

Great info....thanks!
I get that many are bummed about what to expect in 2026 but the Cards system has me psyched beyond 2026.
That’ll be my focus in watching next season.

I wish Cerfolio had answered his own question.... What do they think about Mathews now and going forward?

I was wondering the same thing. I guess David Laurila never circled back to ask him.hugeCardfan wrote: ↑11 Feb 2026 00:14 am I wish Cerfolio had answered his own question.... What do they think about Mathews now and going forward?
