Sophrosyne wrote: 08 Feb 2026 09:58 am Let me clear this up (pardon the contortion of English). We win 4 more, we are in with a 10-8 conference record. If we end up 9-9, I don't think we get in, even with some wins in the SEC tourny. Wins in the SEC tourny mean little.
They mean the same as the regular season.
Not really.

Example
Team #1: 6 - 25 (winning 6 games in the regular season and loses the first game of the SEC tournament - season over)
Team #2: 6 - 25 (wins 1 regular season game and sweeps the SEC tournament - goes on to the NCAA tournament)

Highly unlikely? Yes. Disproves both your postulate and Sophrosyne's? Most certainly.
My apologies. I'm sure not a single poster knew that a team that wins their conference tournament will in fact get a bid, even with a 6-25 record. I determined it would be insulting to point that out in my prior comments, and that only an idiot would rush to bring it up - guess I was right again.

My postulate??? I'm not assuming or claiming anything.

The Selection Committee counts Quad level wins and losses the same all year long.

No, actually they don't. A 10-8 conference record gets you into the NCAA tournament. An 8-10 or 9-9 record, even if you throw on a couple of SEC tournament wins, likely doesn't get you into the NCAA field.

Whew! I guess we can relax now.
Don't get too comfortable.

Lunardi has us as the second team out.

The Arky/LSU score tonight really casts doubt in my mind about our future games.

I hear you, but comparative scores many times are a poor forecaster.

Missouri with a 6.5 spread for tonight?

Is that right?

I only see three wins. Maybe Ant gets his mojo back and we can find a 4th win.

Since you are questioning your own thought, the answer is NO.

Just because AM lost by 20 at home in their last game to a team Mizzou already beat, that doesn't mean Mizzou should be a double-digit favorite.

Not sure what you mean about me questioning my own thought?? Given each team's conference performance to date, I expected A&M to be an 8-9 point favorite at home.

You used question marks after, "I would have thought."

And how can you think AM would be a bigger favorite, when they just lost by 20 at home in their last game to a team Mizzou already beat?

Well, what do you think the spread should be?
