Supposed the league was adding 2 expansion teams and each got to pick 1 active player from every Org, and players with 8 figure contracts/salarys are protected. What 2 Cardinals would even get picked? Maybe JJ and ???
how many would a GM even want when they could pick from all the other orgs out there?
If you were creating new teams from scratch, what Cards would you pick?

Hererras bat is legit, Winn is absurdly good in the field at a premium position and still has room for growth with the bat, Burleson is nothing fancy but a solid 6-7 hitter on a good team, jojo is great out of the pen.
After that, can’t say I’m overly excited about picking anyone else

But would you take Winn over Konnor Griffin? And others who aren't making >10M? There are a lot of elite SS that could be available for a new expansion team.Banner29 wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 16:46 pm Hererras bat is legit, Winn is absurdly good in the field at a premium position and still has room for growth with the bat, Burleson is nothing fancy but a solid 6-7 hitter on a good team, jojo is great out of the pen.

Assuming restricted to 40 Man roster, a catcher, not sure which.
Winn would be a possibility as well depending upon how my infield was shaking out.

I understand your premise of the post, but in reality, teams would be allowed to protect so many of their players, regardless of their contracts. So, understanding that, I’d say a player like Pages could be taken. Cardinals have younger catchers, plus Herrera, so doubtful that they would protect Pages. Fermin, and Prieto would be left unprotected. Expansion teams aren’t going to get a team’s best players. Not how it works.

Thats a great point. After all teams flag their protected players, each team would basically have the same quality available to be selected, so it would come down to what kind of contract teams are looking to start out with, and who on the Cardinals would be left unprotected.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 17:49 pm I understand your premise of the post, but in reality, teams would be allowed to protect so many of their players, regardless of their contracts. Pretty much an impossible question to answer.
