Re: Finley evidently a very good faceoff center
I love that. It's one of the most important things I look for in a center. Many pundits and media thought the Blues made a good move claiming this guy and that Tampa was trying to sneak him through waivers. They are a good team and he was having difficulty getting minutes.

I like the acquisition. It remains to be seen how he will impact the team at all but the fact that he isn't 5'9" is a plus.

One of the advantages of being the second worst team in the league! But since we are in that position, we might as well take advantage of it and I'm glad they did.

I'm giddy over this claim, and there's NO WAY the Bolt is happy about this. He is a very good skater for a 6'6" kid, and he went almost 54% on the dot his last 10 games with Tampa. Put Sunny on wing and slot this kid in a checking/PK role on day one. Just a GREAT bottom six addition to this team who still has two-years on a league minimum.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 21:41 pmhockey jedi wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 18:15 pm I love that. One of the things the Blues need is a 4th line (or any line) that can lock down a one goal lead in the last minute of the game. Maybe Finley can be a part of that.Hockey Pete wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 17:09 pmI'm giddy over this claim, and there's NO WAY the Bolt is happy about this. Truly respect you as a poster, but why would TB waive him if he's that valuable?Hockey Pete wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 17:09 pmI'm giddy over this claim, and there's NO WAY the Bolt is happy about this. I think they had three centers on the mend with Cirelli, Point and Paul (Paul plays both center and wing this season) at various points in the season, which is why they refused to send him down as they were unsure who could go on any given night (he sat for like 13 games, which in itself is telling for a young kid NOT getting ice-time). It looks like all three will be back after the break, so Tampa tried to slip him thru and it didn't work.

https://dobberprospects.com/player/jack-finley/
June 2022- Jack helped his stacked Winnipeg Ice team make it to the WHL semi-finals to put a stamp on his almost point-per-game regular season and playoffs. Given his build and his skill set, he could be a middle-six center in the NHL with 50-55 point upside and decent peripherals. He is more than likely going to battle for AHL ice time this coming year. He is at least two years away from AHL seasoning before reaching the NHL. Caleb Kerney
the big, smooth-skating center will look to build upon last year’s success. Likely to start the year with the Crunch, if he impresses in camp, he might have a shot at making the roster on the fourth line. Assuming he does start the year with the Crunch, in the event of injuries for the Lightning, Finley may be one of the first guys called up to plug holes. On the Crunch, he will continue to see top-six deployment and should get a lot of focus and help in improving his game. If Finley can continue to improve, there is a real chance he can make the Lightning next year. Markus Roach
He is a center so i assume some forward changes are coming

Re: Finley evidently a very good faceoff center
When i look at the laundry list of roster issues this year one big one is the "bottom six"
They are a mish mash of young guys, UFAs and fringe NHLers. There isnt cohesion, they arent particularly hard to play against they are kinda physical.
The 3rd line needs to be able to check and produce
The 4th line needs to be hard to play against, check, skate and score a little
Adding a guy like Finley could move to establish some more of this Fabbri, Joseph, maybe a Walker have to go.

4th lines rarely win games, but they can definitely lose them. The Nashville melt-down saw our 4th line give up two goals in that 3rd period, and in the Dallas game, Sunny was a -3 (obviously tending played a part in both loses). Getting a kid with solid puck-possession and FO abilities can only help...
Just my 2 cents.

Too bad we traded Bjugstad. We could have had a 6’6” line with Finley and Toropchenko!!
Re: Finley evidently a very good faceoff center
I think it establishes that Sunny will be traded. Joseph probably goes to but this move has nothing to do with that as Joseph will be replaced by guys that were already here.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 10:17 am When i look at the laundry list of roster issues this year one big one is the "bottom six"

Fabbri I kind of like as an extra forward if there are no decent offers I'm ok with him sticking around next year.

Im not sure about it meaning Sunny goes (although he absolutely could).skilles wrote: ↑10 Feb 2026 16:43 pmI think it establishes that Sunny will be traded. I think this is just a straight up replacement for Bjugstad.
I see Jospeh going if/when we can find a taker with Stenberg taking his spot.
