Fair, but maybe I was misreading it to be similar to Otto getting in-game playing time during the Olympics than a true demotionSTL fan in MN wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 09:04 amConsidering he would’ve been sent to the AHL had he not been claimed, the comparison would be between the Blues and Syracuse Crunch, not the Lightning. He’s going from 78 Point Eastern Conference leader, Stanley Cup Championship Contender in where people in St Louis vacation, to 49 point Western Conference cellar and TDL seller in MO.
At least he’s from here, but woof. Maybe he’ll get a nice boost in minutes (8:25 ATOI w/Tampa, Bjugstad 11:38 w/StL)

Tampa/St Pete is awesome. Tons of islands, beaches, golf courses, theme parks (Busch Gardens), warm gulf-side water to swim/boat/surf/deep-sea fish and obviously the amenities of a major city including an International Airport
People constantly vacation & retire there. Clearwater, Sarasota, Anna Marie Island, etc

it is a little underrated for sure. Work took me there a few years ago over the holidays. They did a cool job in their wharf with christmas stuff that I did not expect.BleedingBleu wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 12:56 pmHave you never been?Sunny's Teeth wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 10:39 am Wait … people vacation in TB? World class zoo too. Treasure Island, Indian Shores, and John's Pass Village are some of my favs in the area. It probably is my favorite area in Florida and I have traveled all over the state.BleedingBleu wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 12:56 pmHave you never been?Sunny's Teeth wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 10:39 am Wait … people vacation in TB? Completely agree on playing with the NHL vs AHL...STL fan in MN wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 09:04 amConsidering he would’ve been sent to the AHL had he not been claimed, the comparison would be between the Blues and Syracuse Crunch, not the Lightning. While the kid's offense hasn't come around, he's a great skater for a 6'6" kid with a solid puck possession game. The fact that he averaged 53.6% on the DOT his last 10 games (FO takes a bit of adjustment time in the NHL) and had a team low GVA/60 of 1.62 tells me he'd be a quality upgrade on the bottom six. On a team full of kids who can't hold onto the puck, we needed this.
I REALLY like this trade, and it cost us nothing (and next to nothing in payroll)... just a solid pickup and the kind acquisition we needed.

The kid is a bottom six NHL'er right now, and was only getting more solid with each game. But with Tampa getting their centers healthy (and they are deep there) he was odd man out. Excited we get a kid at his age and development for nothing, well, other than stinking up the ice as bad as we do giving us the opportunity to grab him on waivers. I wonder if anyone else put in a claim?

Yup, i'd believe that. His final game he had only like 7 minutes of ice-time but he still went 6 for 7 in FO's. Everyone is saying he's was really playing solid hockey his last 10 games, and things like that from a 6'6" 23 year old don't go unnoticed these days in the NHL.Bluesfan1978 wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 19:05 pmI read somewhere that there were other claims put in.Hockey Pete wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 18:57 pmThanks.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 18:31 pmThanks Pete. He also is supposed to be pretty good at net front battles in the ozone and has some bite to his game.

I've been big on this kid pre draft. Army did good.hockey jedi wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 21:11 pmTakes a little of the sting of losing Colton Ellis. It's fun to do it to someone else. Tampa is bummed about losing him.
Everyone keeps talking forth line with this kid because he hits. Which a Toro.Fin.Joe lines looks dangerously fun.
For me. A scoring third line of Holly.Fin.Snuggs looks both dangerously fun, and potent.
I see Jack being a important part of this teams future core.
