Study show that MLB is a least political major sport.
Which is nice since we don’t wanna talk about politics here anyway.
Go MLB. let’s play ball
And maybe figure your CBA (bleep) out before a lockout is necessitated

NHL? NFL is trying to be international.

Fortunately, no serious MLB writer, reporter, owner, etc... agrees with you....anywhere. Not one.
Lockout coming Dec 1 and there are easily 8 owners that will stick together until we have a cap in place.

I don't see how with how absolutely against a cap the players and agents are.Melville wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 08:06 amAllow me to clarify.
The 2027 season will start on time.
They will very likely miss an entire season.

The players and owners are 100% aligned: both are greedy and put their own desire for wealth above the good of the game or the interests of the fans.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 08:13 amI don't see how with how absolutely against a cap the players and agents are.Melville wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 08:06 amAllow me to clarify.

That is what most fail to understand.
They are not on opposite sides at all.
The owners and union are on one side; the good of the game and the fans are on the other.
Owners and union will not risk damaging their cash cow.
The 2027 season will be played.

Naaa this exact scenario played out in the NFL and the NHL and to a lesser degree the NBA.Melville wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 08:26 amThe players and owners are 100% aligned: both are greedy and put their own desire for wealth above the good of the game or the interests of the fans.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 08:13 amI don't see how with how absolutely against a cap the players and agents are.Melville wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 08:06 amAllow me to clarify.

The top 1% paid athletes in each league have no desire for a salary cap because they see their yearly earnings being cut. In a cap world Kyle Tucker isn't getting paid 60 million a year for his slightly above average production, that contract would be an absolute anchor.
The top 1% don't care about the rookies, or the league minimum, they only care about their max amount. Sure they'll play the "what about the rookies" card but it won't mean anything and Boras sure as hell is going to fight like crazy to not have a salary cap.
On top of that you will still have 6-8 owners who don't want one either, they like being able to outspend 80% of the league and stacking all stars that they never had to spend a dime developing.
this will take time and won't be easy. They may not miss an entire season, but they sure as hell won't be starting the season on time.

I don't see how, they still have their DEI nights.
The NHL got completely rid of their Pride night and invoke no politics at any level.

It will be resolved and the 2027 season will begin on time.
Shared and collaborative greed has been one of the most powerful motivators throughout human history and this will be no different
