Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
In Carbo’s game yesterday he scored two goals. I would think he would instantly be one of the Blues best shooters. One goal I think was a one/timer, both from same area of the ice. He’s built like a tank. Seemed to have decent top end speed and made some nice plays defensively. He played deep in the defensive zone when needed. He also made 3 passes at even strength to players in danger areas and only one of them actually got a shot of. I’m not sure about his explosiveness to gain speed and his agility. Looks like they are his areas of improvement. I struggle to judge this. Is his skating ability similar to a Dvorsky at the same age?

I don’t remember skating being called out in his draft profile. He’s certainly not speedy or explosive, but I think he’s a much better skater than Dvo, who is below average. Found this, even though it’s old.Bluesfan1978 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 10:29 am In Carbo’s game yesterday he scored two goals. I would think he would instantly be one of the Blues best shooters. Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
His speed is good enough. The thing that separates him from the norm is his frame and mindset. He has an NHL build and an NFL mentality.
You'll see this in his Ozone entries. His puck protection is superior - he utilizes his size to shield the puck while maintaining his stride. He can be more direct to the net because of this. He also uses his lower-body power to win puck battles along the boards. All this sets up his elite release.
One thing to remember, and I hope I can find the scouting report again, his hands were rated top 5 in the draft. He's got all the tools for a power forward.

He didn't look like a slow skater to me. I know the competition has to be taken into consideration, but some of those moves, looked world class, imo.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 11:41 am Great highlight video of his skating/hands/shot...

Never said he was slow. His hands are world class. Everything he does sets up an elite shot too.zuck698 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 11:52 amHe didn't look like a slow skater to me. He has a lot of skill but he will need to learn to play nice with others.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 11:58 amNever said he was slow. His hands are world class. I wasn't saying you said he was slow. An earlier poster stated his skating was slow.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 11:58 amNever said he was slow. His hands are world class. Yes, I can see how it looked like I was saying you said that. Anyway, thanks for the video. I can't wait to see him wearing the Bluenote soon.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 12:17 pmOh, got it. Yep. That's where I see some Perron in him. He was the same at 19 when he thought he could dangle everyone and he was a puck hog, often resulting in turnovers. Don't get me wrong, love the attitude of taking the puck and making something happen, but agree with you wholeheartedly that he is going to need to use his teammates at the NHL level. Confident he will, while hopefully maintaining that burning desire to score.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 12:06 pmHe has a lot of skill but he will need to learn to play nice with others.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 11:58 amNever said he was slow.
