Based on what? Size? If that's true, then Snuggerud will be better than any of us thought since he and McDavid are listed at same height and weight.

I like it a lot. He'll get more ice time here than in Tampa obviously. We have time to work with him. This could be fun and give our boys more room.

Possible Sunny replacement for 4C - signed for 3 years, young and cheap - definitely worth taking a flyer on.
I like the Blues approach utilizing the waiver wire. The team is bereft of talent and that is also evident in the bottom 6, so I like these low cost roster churn moves as well to see what you got.

100%....low risk move. Worst case, he doesn't work out, you try to flip him in a package or waive him and let someone else have him. Best case, you have a young, former 2nd round pick who is a cost-controlled physical center for your 4th line and supposedly is somewhat decent on faceoffs. I see no downside.the miracle wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 11:43 am Possible Sunny replacement for 4C - signed for 3 years, young and cheap - definitely worth taking a flyer on.

only downside is he takes a roster spot. should see other moves happen quickly after the breakTruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 13:05 pm100%....low risk move. Agree, but I don't think that's a big deal. They currently have 23 with Finley included. So, they wait a week to bring Stenberg back up? Or they wait a week or two to activate Thomas and/or Holloway? Or they waive a guy like Fabbri who they aren't playing very much....and I like Fabbri and root for the guy. That roster spot is easily managed with some of the junk on this roster, and with current injuries. But your point is valid.moose-and-squirrel wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 13:07 pmonly downside is he takes a roster spot. should see other moves happen quickly after the breakTruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 13:05 pm100%....low risk move. I have to wonder if this isn't a move for next year anyway. If you figure the 4th line is currently Sunny (1.5m) Torpo (1.7m) and Walker (700k), next year Sunny's contract expires and Torpo gets a 700k raise. Finley makes 775, so him replacing Sunny keeps payroll for the 4th line in the 4m range.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 13:18 pmAgree, but I don't think that's a big deal. I have no idea if the Blues even think that way - but just an observation.

Think it's just a look at a player tbh. It doesn't hurt to test out and see if he's a JAG candidate that'll depart quickly, or if he just didn't have enough looks.
Probably a JAG, but always a chance.

I mean yeah the Blues need a 4c and Sunny will be traded soon.the miracle wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 16:40 pmI have to wonder if this isn't a move for next year anyway. Re: Stl Claims Jack Finley
I see it the same way as all four of you...Similar size, position, RH shot and likely role for the team as Buhgstad and Sundqvist, but much younger than both and less salary than Buhgstad. Obviously each of those three have various strengths the other two may not have. I was not aware of his face-off statistics, so based upon what I think I just read somewhere on this thread then that sounds okay. We'll see what happens.the miracle wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 16:40 pmI have to wonder if this isn't a move for next year anyway. For the roles they play I appreciate Joseph's speed and team play and Fabbri is okay too, but they and Toropchenko are placeholders until the higher skilled prospects are deemed ready. There is something different and special about Walker, but there will come a time for when there is no room for him as well. No hard feelings for any of those guys. They are doing their job as expected. If you can get the same output & play with younger and cheaper and not give up to much experience & smarts in the process, then you do it.

Considering he would’ve been sent to the AHL had he not been claimed, the comparison would be between the Blues and Syracuse Crunch, not the Lightning. While I’m sure he’d rather play on the Lightning, I’m also sure he’d rather play on the Blues than Crunch and continue to be paid at a rate of $775k than ride buses at a rate of $100k to play in the AHL.BleedingBleu wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 19:55 pm Look, I’m a St Louis honk and love my teams, but this poor guy is taking a 30 point drop to come to the Lou and play on the 4th Line.
He’s going from 78 Point Eastern Conference leader, Stanley Cup Championship Contender in where people in St Louis vacation, to 49 point Western Conference cellar and TDL seller in MO.
At least he’s from here, but woof. Maybe he’ll get a nice boost in minutes (8:25 ATOI w/Tampa, Bjugstad 11:38 w/StL)

And it sounds like there were other teams ready to claim him as well. So yeah, he dropped a cup contending team to a bottom dweller, but as MN said, could have been AHL, could have some other city across the US who picked him up. Curious to see him play after the break. Like I said a few times, not a needle mover, but younger, has size, and supposedly has some physicality (not a fighter per se). I'll reserve judgement for now, but it's still a low risk move.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑09 Feb 2026 09:04 amConsidering he would’ve been sent to the AHL had he not been claimed, the comparison would be between the Blues and Syracuse Crunch, not the Lightning.
