In order to get a bat that moves the needle to trade for it, you have to give up something. Bloom just didn't restock our minors just to have them depleted by a trade in which we would need to give up some of our top prospects.
Skip adding Grichuk Enough .210 hitters already.

Then I would guess they should not do a thing.RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 18:18 pmIn order to get a bat that moves the needle to trade for it, you have to give up something. Do something or nothing.
Do you think that in all the acquisitions and what was already here
that there are any redundancies and all the vacancies have been filled?

+1 if you’re not going to do something good do nothing. Go for someone good or let Ramos and Velazquez and others battle it out instead of washed up has beens like grichuk and Phamrenostl wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 18:45 pmThen I would guess they should not do a thing.RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 18:18 pmIn order to get a bat that moves the needle to trade for it, you have to give up something. No harm in signing a RG or TP for league minimum with incentives.
I’m probably more a fan though of continuing to give Burleson time in the OF

I am glad he has heavily focused the way he has. Short term should be the least important. Hardest to fill should be next--power pitching, esp starting. Then make sure we have good hitting/OF prospects. Then major league available hitting, utility and OF in particular. You need to squeeze arms to do some innings in the meantime, to ensure each game is not a blowout ad your rotation isnt wrecked by overuse.renostl wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 18:45 pmThen I would guess they should not do a thing.RichieRichSTL wrote: ↑07 Feb 2026 18:18 pmIn order to get a bat that moves the needle to trade for it, you have to give up something. But short term, anything more than cheap FA bats, where bats are not ready, esp. OF, is counterproductive. Once you are ready to.compete seriously again, maybe 2028, you start making moves that matter.
The problem is that your redundancies by themselves will not likely get you a good quality MLB OF.
They will trade redundancies when they know which ones they want to keep and they get a solid offer. But unless they are blown away by an offer, you are cautious about trading extra catching now. Find out which ones you will keep.
