I read waivers can still occur but Finley can't report to the Blues until the freeze ends. So he's a Blue but can't report to St. Louis yet.

Not good news if you are Joseph and/or Walker. He adds size and a physical presence on the 4th line. One of those two are most likely gone.

It’s definitely Joseph just due to his bad contract and UFA status.

Walker is signed dirt cheap for another 2 years and can be easily plugged in as an energy or morale guy if necessary. Walker is a 14th guy anyway in most situations

I would guess Fabbri goes. Joseph might snag a 5-7th rounder in a trade. I also think he brings more to the team than Fabbri. And who knows. By the time they play another game, somebody else may get traded.

It seems the Lightning were trying to sneak Finley through waivers during the Olympic break hoping not to lose him. Also, I read Montreal was intereseted in picking Finley up. He was around 50% on faceoffs with a lot of hits in low minutes played. Could be a nice pickup.

the lightning fans on reddit are actually bumming. they view him as odd man out in a cup push. they think hes a good player. Definitely seems like bjug opened up this door, which means joseph/sunny/fabbri better have their travel plans ready. I think the BLues like all 3 of those players. But they are at the point where they can't get value back because of injury, and they are UFA so young for older

I like the pickup because it’s low risk. Could turn out to be another Logan Brown, but also could be a big bodied physical presence on the 4th line, that has a bit of skill. Has a history of a severe shoulder injury, so hopefully it’s in his past.

The Blues are going to need bodies to finish out the year if they are trading roster players for prospects/picks. I'm sure they want to keep the AHL players at the AHL level.

This seems like a smart pickup for where this team's at right now. I'd rather have guys like this than Suter, Joseph, and Walker.

JAG is Just A Guy not really name calling but i guess. Its more akin to "4th liner" is that name calling? Idk citing Jeff Finley as a "pylon" is kinda dumb. He was on some pretty good Blues team under Q added a lot of steady depth

Look, I’m a St Louis honk and love my teams, but this poor guy is taking a 30 point drop to come to the Lou and play on the 4th Line.

He’s going from 78 Point Eastern Conference leader, Stanley Cup Championship Contender in where people in St Louis vacation, to 49 point Western Conference cellar and TDL seller in MO.

At least he’s from here, but woof. Maybe he’ll get a nice boost in minutes (8:25 ATOI w/Tampa, Bjugstad 11:38 w/StL)
