I do think we have what they need/want. Thomas to DET would be epic for them.

Any chance we can move Krug in this deal? Just go home
Trading Krug does nothing for us, only save the owners cash.
Yup. In the offseason though, his contract may help a team with getting to the cap floor. The Blues don’t have to deal that contract, but it may actually happen this offseason with the cap jump. As you said, just saves cash and doesn’t improve or hurt the team.
I could be wrong about this, but insurance should be paying his contract.
Maybe, I don't know. Either way I'm sure there are expenses.

Faulk seems most likely to be traded. His production and leadership and consistency and stability are all positives.
He will bring back a First round pick and a good/ok prospect imo.

We should be able to get more value since RHD is always in higher demand

Id do Faulk Kyrou with MBN+ coming back, that would be an OMG right side with Snuggerud, MBN and Carbonneau down the road. The Blues would have 100% drafted MBN if he was there

I don't think we'd be getting ASP without a big add on our part. Faulk is still a pretty respectable 2nd pair defenseman type but he's going to be 34 in a month. You're not likely getting a blue chip 20 year old.
Yeah, I was never trying to say Faulk would net him. My thought on a big add was Thomas.

It's never gonna happen, but Thomas+Faulk for ASP+Danielson as main pieces. I would throw in their choice of Holloway/Kyrou/Buch for Bear, but again, not gonna happen. More likely to see Faulk for Anton Johansson and a 2nd.

100%....they can say all they want that their target was Jiricek, but Helenius went 14, MBN went 15 and then we took Jiricek at 16. If either of those two players were there, they would be a Blue.

First, he is still an older player with only one year remaining on his contract. Second, he is playing well, but he is a mid pair defenseman at this stage of his career. You are not getting more than that. Hopefully, we get that, and the high first is not true at all. None of the teams that would trade for an aging defenseman will have a "high" first. It will simply be (hopefully) a first and a decent prospect or a good prospect and a 2nd or 3rd round pick, and that would be great for us.

Yes insurance covers. The issue is LTIR ends at the end of each season, so he has to be redeclared LTIR on the First Day of the next season until contract expires. Therefore the CAP takes a hit over the summer offseason during the time when the only takers would be those with Cap Floor issues, or those with a massive amount of CAP to absorb the hit (and generally that last category is unlikely to unload anyone that may be appealing or they may try to wait out to get something in addition from a desperate seller before season to make room during the offseason). So, it's not a cash flow effect for the Team, but it does "hamstring" in a sense when trying to build out and plan roster during Summer...hard to get the big impact player, so you fill in as best you can.
In most cases, the player obtains their own Inability To Perform insurance, usually through Lloyds Of London. However, the league allows each team to carry one policy for one Marquee designated player -- someone if they become LTIR could adversely affect ticket sales...kind of like a Business Interruption policy...not sure who that is for the Blues?? :? And the NHL itself carries 5 huge $ Marquee policies on whomever they and I guess with owners' input for elite players whom generate more ticket sales for when they are a visiting team (i.e. McDavid, Ovechkin, Crosby, etc.) If they are LTIR, then the policy kicks in and payments are shared with all of the teams (not sure if it excludes their own team since I'm sure they have their own policy).

I’m not at all convinced that would have been the case. There was heavy speculation prior to the draft that we were targeting Jiricek, hoping he would fall, and that he was our guy. If the Blues are right in their scouting, Jiricek may be much more valuable long-term than MBN. It’s a much closer argument with Helenius due to position, but a top 4 RHD is arguably more valuable than a top 6 C, but it’s close either way.

A literal Viking

Plays like one too. Absolute psycho on the ice with very good scoring touch to go with it.

I was so bummed when Helenius and MBN went right ahead of our pick. Kind of like when Leonard and Danielson went right before Dvorsky. Our prospect pool would look a lot better IMHO with Helenius and Leonard vs Jiricek and Dvorsky or even MBN and Danielson over our two.

Meh
Not that I was "upset" with the Jiricek pick(it was a total "home run swing" due to the injuries but sometimes it's worth it to make those kinds of picks), but I was more upset over Luchanko than Helenius or MBN(Detroit was linked to MBN for so long I knew there was no way he was getting past them). I was really hoping Luchanko would slip due to size.
Honestly, I wasn't a big fan of Helenius going into the Draft. I liked Hage and Boisvert more than him at the time(I've soured a bit on Boisvert since then).

I never thought we had a shot at Leonard(Montreal and Arizona were absolutely stupid to go defense IMO) and I had(and still have) Dvorsky ranked above Danielson. I'm not even remotely upset with how that Draft played out(I might have gone Edstrom over Lindstein(at the time at least) but getting Dvorsky and Stenberg was an absolute coup IMO).

I think you mean the same thing and are phrasing it two different ways. ‘High first’ presumably means a higher number or later in the round.
