Desnoyers and Martin are both fairly scrappy and neither really project as high end skill guys(more skilled than Neighbours, but neither really screams PPG production). Could be either of them(probably Martin, he's got a legit mean streak to him and he went MUCH higher than projected).Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 11:02 amMuch appreciated. O'Brien is a Thomas type.
Excellent skater, high end playmaker(2nd best passer in last years draft behind Misa), excellent 2-way guy, not much of a goal scorer(good shot but doesn't use it often).
Probably doesn't project as an Elite #1 center, but he projects pretty comfortably as a top 6 center(low to mid-tier #1 or high end #2).

Chief is a beloved sports figure in the Lou. There will always be a portion of the fanbase that is critical of Kyrou if only because of his reaction to Chief’s firing.MandatoryDenial wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 10:06 am
I also don't understand why Kyrou has been scapegoated quite so hard. Yes he hasn't lived up to that contract but he also has been sat out for a long period of time and that was the franchise's choice. No he hasn't played particularly well but he has played better than Buchnevich, yet Buch never seems to sit. I would rather keep him at this point as well. I just don't think selling low on him is a good long term move. I say keep him and hope that he turns it around next year. Move on from a bunch of others though on this team.
Re: rumor on kyrou
Stats are deceiving which is why you have to actually watch the games. The other night when Kyrou had his multiple assists he passed back to Broberg at the blueline which led to a goal- wasn't like he made a beautiful seam pass or anything requiring high skill. If you isolate on him for his 20+ shifts per game you can see what he does night after night. IF he finds quiet ice and IF somebody gets the puck and slides it to him he has a better than average chance of converting. I just don't think that justifies $8 million. When challenged he passes off whether he has a good option or not- just not willing to get hit. I will never be good with that. I can't believe his teammates who have to do the hard work are okay with it either.

Keep 89. 25. 63 together. Trade 18.

Agree 100%. And the frustrating part is that it doesn't take a hit. Just get body position and cut him off. I'll admit, I'm old-school and like the hard-hitting style that some teams ALWAYS keep in their identity. Would I have loved to see someone crunch Heiskanen and end the play? Sure. But a speedy guy like Kyrou just getting body position and forcing him to dump it, is the same result. The team refused to do it, Kyrou refused to do it, and then everyone floated and puck-watched a cross-ice pass to a wide-open guy for the game winner. Wash, rinse, repeat.sneptsmoustache wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 10:57 amI was so, so (upset) about this last night...kudos to him for skating over there in a hurry, but he sort of hit the brakes and unsuccessfully poked at the puck, and Heiskanen was completely unbothered. It was a completely squandered opportunity...all he had to do was keep his feet moving and extinguish him along the boards, and the play dies right there. So frustrating.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 10:45 am I've been hard on Kyrou for his complete level, and last night at the end of the game was an example where he could have used his speed to neutralize Heiskanen easily. But he also has been on a heater and shows what you are giving up. Problem is that we've seen this before and heaters come in fits and starts with him. In the end, he always seems to end up though with 30 goals or so and 65-70 points. Don't think he hits anywhere near that this year, especially after being out for a while.
My point - other teams see this too. I don't think the value will be as high as we think. Seattle might revisit trading their own 1st again, but it will be 16-20 if I'm a betting man based on where they are in the standings. Or maybe they offer a Wright + 2027 2nd. Either way, the time to sell Kyrou high has sailed. At this point, and I'm going to throw up in my mouth for saying it, if you can't get a 25-goal scorer in return, or a high 1st and a good prospect, you might as well keep him.
Separate topic, but sometimes I think these guys are overcoached on that...i.e. "don't go for the hit, you'll take yourself out of the play". I just see too many guys pass up the opportunity to take the body, which would be the simplest and most effective play. Instead they swipe at the puck and let people keep dancing around the perimeter until a play opens up![]()

Yes...exactly...you don't need a bone-crunching hit. Literally just pin him up against the boards until the puck drifts off his stick. Or, to your point, maybe he senses it coming and dumps the puck in.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 11:42 amAgree 100%. And the frustrating part is that it doesn't take a hit. Re: rumor on kyrou
People are critical of Kyrou because he's having a (canine-fertilizer) season on a (canine-fertilizer) team with no yellow brick road to the Cup any time soon. Makes no sense keeping depreciating assets when you have no chance of winning any time soon. I'd hate 3-4 seasons down the line and Kyrou turns into Buch, getting worse season after season after season to the point we'd have to pay someone to take him.ScalesofJustice wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 15:51 pmNailed it.BleedingBleu wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 11:29 amChief is a beloved sports figure in the Lou.
