(bleep)...Boswell broke his right hand in practice and is out at least a month.
Petro time?...not sure they trust his defense
Davis?.... no ability to penetrate
go with 3 forwards instead of 3 guards? ....I'm guessing Humrich moves into the starting lineup.

Re: managing the lineup and minutes
Boswell out for at least a month is huge. He does so many things for the team. I suspect Petrovic, Davis, and Hummer will all get much more PT tonight vs Maryland. I think Brandon Lee might also get extended minutes.
Wouldn't it be great if Ty Rodgers was close to coming back??

Re: managing the lineup and minutes
well, that's one way to respond to having a key player suddenly out of the lineup....if Stoja can hit a few treys every game like that, he's going to dominate any game he needs to.
That was as about a "BU type game" as you're going to get. Shooting and offensive rebounds and 20 FTs.
Will be interesting to see who we have guarding Smith on Saturday. We still lost the turnover ratio and had another slow start, but that's a bit nitpicky. We finally figured out how to attack a zone. Mirkovic can drain 8 footers at the high post all day long for one thing.
My B-in-law is a glass half empty guy and thinks our lack of offensive sets will get us beat by Purdue, MI, Mich St and Nebraska again. At this point, with the shooting and size, I've become a glass half full type....those teams are gonna need to figure out a way to keep us below 80. Right now I can't see any team doing that.

Re: managing the lineup and minutes
Stojakovic was on fire, good thing, with Boswell out and Keaton not shooting well. and Hopefully Andrej can continue this kind of attack vs mighty Purdue - 30 pts, 9 rebounds and 8 of 8 FT, plus a tremendous job of defending vs Coit. Jake Davis' 4 treys were huge, and Mirkovic had another strong game. Big Z needs to avoid the flagrant fouls, his scoring and blocking was missed.
Really bad timing that the team will be without Boswell for the road games coming up with Purdue, Nebraska, and Michigan State. They will have to be at their best to win any of those match ups. I suppose Boswell could possibly return for the game at home with Michigan (2/27) - I sure hope so.

Re: managing the lineup and minutes
Davis is doing so many little things for this team and his shooting just puts so much pressure on another teams defense. They have to know where he's at all the time. He's not gonna blow anybody away athletically, but he's a winning player and you can see that the team and coaches really trust him.
Re: managing the lineup and minutes
Illinois is looking pretty good without Bosley. His injury might of lost him his quarter backing role for the year and model m okay with that.
I just hope there's enough ball for both him and wags. When he comes back.

Re: managing the lineup and minutes
This Illini team is deep. Boswell's injury has shown just how true that is. Davis has stepped up big time with more PT, and so has Hummer. Wagler and Stojakovic have proven their offensive prowess. When Boswell is healed and returns, the team will only be even stronger. He has some attributes that are missed, even though they continue to win. Sky is the limit!
Re: managing the lineup and minutes
I mean....wow. Just wow. I don't even know where to begin. Words fail me, so I'll just go with 2 of them: shooting and rebounding.
