Man, nothing like being owned. My Stars fan neighbor is chomping at the bit to give me a ton of sh*t, and I'll have no choice but to take it.
But, beyond the Stars, this team is driving me to drink. We go into the Olympic break with a .430 point percentage. Since there 70s there have been only two seasons with point percentages this low: the post-strike, post-fire-sale team of 2005-06 (.348), a f'in miserable season, and '1982-83 (.406), where we still made the playoffs. As a Cardinals fan, I don't think I've ever experienced a time when both teams were on the bottoming out of a talent cycle. But here we are.
The Stars should give the Blues part of their playoff $$

I wouldn't say the Blues are bottoming out on talent. 9th youngest team in the league, and they are missing their "stars" for what now has to be the most collective games for a forward group for players that were healthy day 1. (not counting teams like florida where barkov is out the whole time.) The Blues started the season with a roster, and this current roster very little resembles it. Think about the lineup. Who is in their position today that they were in on day 1? The whole defense has been scrambled to fix the tucker and mailloux stuff. the 1st line that was projected? 2nd line projected? 3rd line projected? the only one that kind of looks normal is the 4th line with Torps/Sunny/Walks. I think they did plan on that.
That being said, this is tough stuff to watch. I know that people want team tank, but after the break it looks like the guys are healthy. If they can't make meaningful trades, and they continue losing. The rot is going to set in. The young guys who are on this team like Snuggy, Broberg, Dvo who have bene playing a ton, are going to learn how to lose. And I don't think Blues fans are ready for what that looks like. I remember the Lambs days. STL doesn't have an appetite for building. Heck, the game day comments show it. People joke after like "embrace the tank." But the entire time the game is going on it's just hate.

I hear ya, man, but don't you think some of the established players are going to be trade deadline bait for younger players and prospects?callitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 09:48 amBrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 09:26 am Man, nothing like being owned. i think they are going to try and move people where they can. But this situation is a lot different than the last time we sold pieces. all of our pieces that were high value then were on UFA expiring contracts. MUCH easier to retain or do whatever to get the deal done. If you want to move Kyrou, you have to move him to a team that can afford the 8m price tag. The Blues aren't eating that. Same with Schenn, 6.5m you would have to retain and thats multiple years. I don't think the Blues mindset is that we are willing to freeze money for 3 years and 5 years. I can see a world for Faulk because we would just be retaining next year. But he's the only one where it makes sense.
NOW, if there are other franchises that feel like their direction isn't where they want to be, that's when the door opens for real trades. You can possibly find trade partners for other teams that can trade equal level of contracts. Making some hockey trade pivots. But if you were to ask me today, Maybe Suter? Maybe Binner? Maybe Faulk? theres a bunch a few UFA's but contending teams, those 3 are the ones that seem like they have contracts that could be moved if the Blues wanted to make it work.
Will be interesting, I don't see how you sign Broberg long term, hopefully sign Hollywood long term, and then do a sell off. Those messages aren't very clear. in direction. 1 big play seems like the most logical move.

I expect Dallas to be out after the first round so it won’t be much of a share.
