rumor on kyrou
SOme one on HF boards stated the following
"Seattle seems to want to make a big splash. Friedman said they offered the O’Brien pick for Kyrou. I could see them revisiting that."
does anyone remember freidman saying that and would you take obrien and a 1st for kyrou...

Re: rumor on kyrou
This is from the draft last year. The rumored deal was the 8th overall pick that became O’Brien for Kyrou. I don’t think Seattle would offer O’Brien plus a first for Kyrou but I’d take that in a heartbeat.

Re: rumor on kyrou
If I were Seattle I wouldn’t give up any first-round picks — they’re going to need them for their own depth for the future. But if Steen can actually get a player plus a first-round pick for Kyrou, that’d be an absolute steal of the century.

Re: rumor on kyrou
It was just Kyrou for the 8th overall pick. No guarantee the Blues would have selected O’Brien there

Can somebody please remind me of the jake obrien comp/scouting report. Doesnt he project as a middle 6 center. Kind of a jake neighbours hard working type. Could be completely wrong
Re: rumor on kyrou
Kyrou is tied for third on the team in point shares this year. If you trade him and get something substantial back, great! Trading him because you are frustrated with him is a bad idea. This team struggles to score as it is.

I also don't understand why Kyrou has been scapegoated quite so hard. Yes he hasn't lived up to that contract but he also has been sat out for a long period of time and that was the franchise's choice. No he hasn't played particularly well but he has played better than Buchnevich, yet Buch never seems to sit. I would rather keep him at this point as well. I just don't think selling low on him is a good long term move. I say keep him and hope that he turns it around next year. Move on from a bunch of others though on this team.

A bit OT but related to some replies in this thread. I have this goofy theory that not a day goes by where something that happens in my life, either at work, at home, thru conversations with people or something I see online can be tied back to Seinfeld.
In this thread "O'Brien" does it.
Back to the topic burn it down, trade everyone. Keep losing. Tank for Mike Tyson McKenna.

O'Brien is a Thomas type.
Excellent skater, high end playmaker(2nd best passer in last years draft behind Misa), excellent 2-way guy, not much of a goal scorer(good shot but doesn't use it often).
Probably doesn't project as an Elite #1 center, but he projects pretty comfortably as a top 6 center(low to mid-tier #1 or high end #2).

Re: rumor on kyrou
I've been hard on Kyrou for his complete level, and last night at the end of the game was an example where he could have used his speed to neutralize Heiskanen easily. But he also has been on a heater and shows what you are giving up. Problem is that we've seen this before and heaters come in fits and starts with him. In the end, he always seems to end up though with 30 goals or so and 65-70 points. Don't think he hits anywhere near that this year, especially after being out for a while.
My point - other teams see this too. I don't think the value will be as high as we think. Seattle might revisit trading their own 1st again, but it will be 16-20 if I'm a betting man based on where they are in the standings. Or maybe they offer a Wright + 2027 2nd. Either way, the time to sell Kyrou high has sailed. At this point, and I'm going to throw up in my mouth for saying it, if you can't get a 25-goal scorer in return, or a high 1st and a good prospect, you might as well keep him.

This cracked me up! Reminded me of the clip that was shown so much of Dunn dropping that big goon in the hallways leading to the dressing room in the minors. Maybe McKenna will get a face tattoo before the draft as well!George Zipp wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 10:09 am A bit OT but related to some replies in this thread. Id take a 1st straight up for him. Addition by subtraction and a 1st round pick.

Re: rumor on kyrou
I was so, so (upset) about this last night...kudos to him for skating over there in a hurry, but he sort of hit the brakes and unsuccessfully poked at the puck, and Heiskanen was completely unbothered. It was a completely squandered opportunity...all he had to do was keep his feet moving and extinguish him along the boards, and the play dies right there. So frustrating.TruBlueFan_1970 wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 10:45 am I've been hard on Kyrou for his complete level, and last night at the end of the game was an example where he could have used his speed to neutralize Heiskanen easily. Separate topic, but sometimes I think these guys are overcoached on that...i.e. "don't go for the hit, you'll take yourself out of the play". I just see too many guys pass up the opportunity to take the body, which would be the simplest and most effective play. Instead they swipe at the puck and let people keep dancing around the perimeter until a play opens up

Much appreciated. Not sure who i was thinking about. Maybe brady martin, maybe not. Not sure who’s comp i have stuck in my head. I thought there was a center that went pretty high that was running around blowing people up.kimzey59 wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 10:29 amYou're completely wrong.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 09:44 am Can somebody please remind me of the jake obrien comp/scouting report. Because Krug no longer plays, and this board always must have a whipping boy.MandatoryDenial wrote: ↑05 Feb 2026 10:06 am I also don't understand why Kyrou has been scapegoated quite so hard.
