Send Help

Post by Barryberi »

Wow...really enjoyable 2 hours with hints of "Swept Away"; "Overboard"; and "Misery". Rachel McAdams has never been better, as a mousy corporate tech whose rumpled look, fishy lunches, and lack of golf skills deny her an earned promotion. She's also a huge fan of "Survivor" who gets to employ her survival skills despite her boss's mockery of her auditioning for the show. So, when an airborne disaster, with her new boss and his cronies as overpaid snakes on a plane, strands them on a tropical atoll with her monstrous boss...the fun really starts!

It was a lot of fun... maybe not as much as the very underrated "Drag Me To Hell," but still a worthy filmgoing experience.

I'm curious if Raimi saw "Triangle of Sadness," as this covers a lot of the same ground narratively and thematically. I preferred Triangle's more direct political commentary, but this treatment has its place.

The only thing I didn't like about this was it was about 10-15 minutes too long, and a little tonally inconsistent. I had trouble squaring Linda being simultaneously a strategic/survival genius and incredibly gullible to the guy's lies.
