I saw it. It was great. It showed all sides of a very complex man. There is even a quick St. Louis reference. Don't blink when they talk about History of the World, part I, or you'll miss it.

Saw the first episode and it’s been fascinating. I never knew Mel Brooks was a veteran of WW2. Crazy life story

Not easy duty, either. Clearing mines. Yikes. Every day w/ yer nuts in yer stomach. Lived to laugh for another better part of a century, his gift to us.BleedingBleu wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 21:37 pm Saw the first episode and it’s been fascinating. Nothing/zed/zilch not to love about this now nearly thousand year old man. Will watch when it becomes available to me, for sure.
In case anyone don't know, here's some famous actors who did hazardous duty in WWII that I know of :
Mel Brooks
David Niven
Christopher Lee
Henry Fonda
Lee Marvin
Eddy Arnold
Any others ya'll care to mention, in this or other wars - folks who were in great hazard, what I'm getting at ?

Art Carney took shrapnel while manning a machine gun fighting in Saint-Lo, France. Reason why he had a limp for the rest of his life.

Can you imagine being in a boat with Rickles? I bet he was just dogging everybody around him. haDon Rickles saw action in the Pacific aboard a submarine chaser.
