Re: Nick Bjugstad on the move???
Ehhh I think in this case it's not a huge deal. He's only a 2 year contract and likely figured that if things did go south he'd be getting moved. If it was like a 6 year contract and he got moved before his first trade deadline then that's something.zamadoo wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 15:34 pmWell I completely agree with you on why it makes sense, even after a franchise record win streak and double OT game 7 loss (which is why we signed Suter and Bjugstad), but generally when you sign vets to multi-year contracts and then trade them at the TDL in the first year, you send the signal to other players that would potentially sign here that you might trade them, which could discourage them or force a NTC. It could also point to players wanting to leave immediately to rid themselves of the stench. But yeah, Army should be cleaning house before he turns it over to Steen.BluesDom wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 15:24 pm"Not a good look"==what does that actually mean. What choice do they have?zamadoo wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 15:16 pmI agree. Unless Bjug asked to leave, hopefully he was asked for rather than intentionally shopped first.2forDiving wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 14:50 pm I don’t mind moving Bjugstad, but I sure hope the deal wasn’t made to keep open doors available for Joseph, Walker, Sunny, etc. those guys need to be finding new addresses, too, because there shouldn’t be any spots for them going forward.
I didn't care for the signing, but he really grew on me.
Generally not a good look when you trade a guy you just signed, so if Suter goes that will really be something. I'd rather have kept Bjugstad for the bottom 6. Getting a 4th is nice I guess.
The owner will want to shed salary now.
Nothing has worked out for the Blues. Bad coaching--hes here for a really long time. Bad play by star players; Bad defense; Bad goaltending. etc etc,
The GM signed these guys hoping to be a winning team.
The Blues failed in their messaging and their play. The GM said retool over--its not over.
They planned on being a playoff team. Now that we are bottom dwellers. They will listen to all offers.
Faulk, Joseph, Suter may be moved. Maybe Binner. I dont see us doing much more due to the salaries and no trade clauses.
If they don't trade Suter than maybe it is a situation where Bjugstad went to them after the Preds loss and said trade me to a potential playoff team.
The Devils are only 5 points out and a good 7-3 run after the Olympics could potentially have them in

well when it comes down to it, fabbri is going to get dropped for berg. Monty already said if it wasn't a skill issue, fabbri would be out there because of the example he set.skilles wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 15:42 pmProbably more than 1 IMO if you want a spot for Berggrencallitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 15:29 pmThey have to open room for Stenberg. 1 more guy needs to go. Re: Nick Bjugstad on the move???
Your point about the owners is valid, and I think you're absolutely correct on the direction we're going now. There are few UFAs this upcoming offseason that IMO would be fits and worth it, so not too worried, but actually excited for young players coming up. That 2023 draft...
After next season, Krug will finally be off our payroll, along with Faulk (if not already traded), and Binner (if not re-signed).
I'm being dead serious when I say this: Bring in Schwartz and Schenn for 1 or several years, re-sign Fabbri, and bring back Perron one last time. Let these guys be the mentors and stop-gaps for the youth.

Dumb signing in the first place IMO. Signed, just in case we miss on Suter, signing. Never needed. The 4th is nice.
Bordeleau was pretty good for the Barracuda club; not so much for the offensive challenged Comets. AHL

For me Fabbri is the pressbox guy and you still don't have room when healthy or even -1 forwardcallitwhatyouwant wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 15:49 pmwell when it comes down to it, fabbri is going to get dropped for berg. Schenn
Buch
Kyrou
Thomas
JN
Holloway
Snugg
Dvo
Berggren
Stenberg
Suter
Toro
Walker
Fabbri
Sunny
Joseph
More than 1 more is gonna have to go and even then you don't have much room to work a couple more young guys in to get a look which I'm sure is something of interest.
I think we probably see Joseph and Sunny go for sure and maybe 1 bigger name Like Schenn/Kyrou though those depend on the return and are less likely.
D is a totally different story IMO.
On D we need to add an NHL Dman(off season) not subtract any IMO unless we are replacing them with a better option. We certainly don't need to tear the d completely down leaving all these promising young forwards no chance to succeed and you can't count on UFA with a bottom 5 finish and the cap going way up.
Goal tending I think Bennington could go but I question trading him extremely low.

Re: Nick Bjugstad on the move???
This move in isolation makes no sense. Borderleau is AHL caliber and we need more C's, not less.
This could signal that a larger trade is in the works with New Jersey. Maybe Kyrou will follow for more NJ assets.
I say this too because the Devils needed a reliable 3rd-line C, more size in their forwards, and SCORING DEPTH.
Maybe Kyrou for Lenni Hameenaho. Hameenaho is a prospect forward. Or maybe this tells us that a significant veteran C is coming back for a Thomas trade.

Re: Nick Bjugstad on the move???
Sure it does, we are gonna be losing players on waivers soon if we don't make room. Bjugstad likely being one of them, we have way to many forwards.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 16:20 pm This move in isolation makes no sense. Borderleau is AHL caliber.

Bjugstad is a nice depth piece if you’re contending, but since we’re not, we had zero need for him.crookedfeeder wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 16:08 pm Dumb signing in the first place IMO. Signed, just in case we miss on Suter, signing. Never needed. The 4th is nice.

We dumped a player because we are bottom dwellers. If we were winning--he would still be here, Thats it. It makes total sense. Stop it with this ridiculousness. Owner wants to stop the bleeding and shed payroll on non essential players.
Re: Nick Bjugstad on the move???
If that’s truly the case, then start REALLY dumping salary. Binner Schenn Faulk for starters.BluesDom wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 16:59 pmThis makes zero sense.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 16:20 pm This move in isolation makes no sense. Where is this owner wants to shed payroll coming from? Is Stillman on record anywhere saying this? Or is this just froth churned up by the forums?BluesDom wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 16:59 pmThis makes zero sense.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 16:20 pm This move in isolation makes no sense. Re: Nick Bjugstad on the move???
I'm focused more on the C aspect of this. Why get rid of a C at this point? Seems crazy, especially since there are no more young Cs arriving anytime soon.BluesDom wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 16:59 pmThis makes zero sense.a smell of green grass wrote: ↑04 Feb 2026 16:20 pm This move in isolation makes no sense. I still think that this shows that Army knows of another C coming in for some other trade.
