Maybe Cijntje
Can have the opportunity to earn a special place in baseball history. Similar to when we got to see Tatis hit 2 GS in one inning, maybe we would be lucky enough to witness the first pitcher ever to blow two elbows in one inning. And do it in a Cardinal Uniform.

Or. He gets the final two outs in a WS win, one lefty and one righty.
I know he is focused on righty now, but…..

LOL...He's not even good with one hand. But who knows, I'm pretty pessimistic right now. Maybe I need to smoke something right now.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 07:40 amOr. He gets the final two outs in a WS win, one lefty and one righty.

I hear ya. I don’t know how else to act but think these moves will at worse produce one good player for the future/ I’m thinking they are saturating the market- pitchers, and would then follow with offense/

I get the impression his days as a lefty hurler are over, he's going to throw righty and only toss lefty a bit during bullpen sessions.

Cardinal fans are just a joy in how they show support for their players. What's next? Maybe JJ can blow out a knee in spring training? Maybe Winn can pull a Vince Coleman and get run over by the tarp?
What other injuries are you hoping to be "lucky" enough to witness?
Absolutely pathetic.

Re: Maybe Cijntje
Makes me wonder how Whitey might have utilized a switch P.
Maybe Todd Worrell in RF doesn't happen, but you'd have to be good with either hand to have a real weapon instead of just a novelty.
Does sound like his RHP has good potential.
Here's a stupid question. If he WAS good from both sides, if he had TJ on one arm, could you still use him as a P with his other side after a much shorter post surgery timeline while he's still rehabbing the TJ side?

Yeah and that's a good point to expand on my question. He probably wouldn't be able to just stay in the game and switch arms, but it would be cool if he did.JDW wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 10:01 am Makes me wonder how Whitey might have utilized a switch P.

I was thinking about this also. My guess is that after 4 to 6 months he could most likely pitch left handed after TJ surgery. He most likely could be used as a lefty reliever to limit his time but could still be useful while rehabbing is right armJDW wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 10:01 am Makes me wonder how Whitey might have utilized a switch P.

That could be cool. I don't think he's going to be terribly effective as a lefty...but if he could sharpen up a pitch as a lefty...wouldn't it be cool to see him get a tough lefty out the day after starting a game?kyace wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 10:58 amI was thinking about this also. And if only we could have Baghdad Dan back on the air to call it.

Re: Maybe Cijntje
I want to see him face a switch hitter.
I seem to remember a clip where the batter and pitcher went back and forth. I googled the rules and it says ...
The "Venditte Rule": If an ambidextrous pitcher is pitching, the batter and pitcher must follow specific rules. The pitcher must commit to one hand for the batter, and the batter must pick a side; they can only switch sides once after the first pitch is thrown.
So, if this is correct, I guess the switch hitter has the advantage in that situation.
