Rumored ask for Thomas
I'd say it's a pretty safe bet he sticks around..
Nick Kypreos: Re Robert Thomas: The price is astronomical, in the vicinity of something equivalent to three top-15 first-round picks. [Armstrong's] looking for cache in prospects and picks.

Re: Rumored ask for Thomas
Thomas would be very difficult to replace for somebody who could step right in and play. I don’t trust draft choices, but it takes too long Can you develop players if they develop well enough at all. Get him a shooter -might even be Carboneau Berggren’s ‘s probably better than we think if we give that experiment a chance longer with Thomas. He won’t be playing around like Kyrou does too much with Thomas and the puck.
It will be too hard to replace Thomas’s points

Re: Rumored ask for Thomas
That's a steep asking price. As I've said in another thread, my worry is he overvalues his trade chips and the team does nothing to improve the team's chances of getting back to perennial playoff team 3 years from now. Reality needs to set in that the team needs more juice in the pipeline and the window isn't opening any time soon. Other teams won't have a problem jettison vets for decent returns that aren't unrealistic asks and benefit from it down the road.

I would believe that’s probably pretty darn close to being accurate……which is funny because I rarely believe anything Kypreos posts.Unfathomable wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 15:28 pm I'd say it's a pretty safe bet he sticks around..

Re: Rumored ask for Thomas
Doesn't make sense trading Thomas if you continue to hold on to Faulk and Parayko and Kyrou. Thomas is Donovan, he's the last one you trade after you trade the others. Blues should do a Cards style overpaid vet purge...they won't because Army don't have the stones for it, his ego gets in the way.

I don't think they are trading Thomas. Too hard to replace at his production and cap hit. I don't think you trade Parayko either. At the very least you have a shut down defenseman at 6.5 which is a bargain. Faulk, Schenn and Kyrou. All of which have upped their value recently.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 15:54 pm Doesn't make sense trading Thomas if you continue to hold on to Faulk and Parayko and Kyrou. This is more of this is the price, doubt anyone will fill it.
Re: Rumored ask for Thomas
Right. No reason Army should be in any rush to trade RT. If some team wants to pay the bonanza, then for sure, but there is much more urgency with Kyrou/Buch if possible as they could continue to be subpar and make trading them harder and harder as time goes by and they grow more distant from their productive seasons, as well as a guy like Faulk where you want to sell high and get what you can. RT is much lower of a risk on that front despite a bad year.Tony Palazzolo wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 16:15 pmI don't think they are trading Thomas. Too hard to replace at his production and cap hit. Thomas isn’t going anywhere, but some pretty amazing offers in the comments of that X post.

Re: Rumored ask for Thomas
I've said it before but if there are worries about the core, you absolutely trade Thomas (and obv Kyrou).
In reality Faulk, Binnington, Schenn, Thomas, Kyrou and Parayko should all be in play, as should Buch.
I think Parayko would be the biggest loss out of that group so doubt he goes, Thomas is a close 2nd.

I thought trading expiring contracts of ROR, Tank, Mikkola, and Barbashev (oh and Acciari) in February 2023 was pretty good.LGB73 wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 15:46 pm That's a steep asking price. Netted:
1st, 2nd, 3rd, Abromov, Gaudette
1st, 4th, Blais, Skinner
Dean
1sts became Stenberg and Lindstein
2nd became Fischer
3rd became Pekarcik
4th became 3rd became Jecho (we also took Burns with our own 3rd rounder 2 picks before)
Still having our own 4th, we took (if you can believe it) Stancl
He reportedly attempted to trade Krug for Sanheim, but Krug blocked it.
I believe Faulk will be dealt just like Stastny was. Only thing is he still has another year, so while that's good for value, it may not necessarily be what some teams want, and doesn't fit Army's history of last year of deal TDL dumps.

I would just retain 50% on Faulks deal to really max the return.zamadoo wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 16:29 pmI thought trading expiring contracts of ROR, Tank, Mikkola, and Barbashev (oh and Acciari) in February 2023 was pretty good.LGB73 wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 15:46 pm That's a steep asking price. Buyer would get 2 playoff runs with Faulk and he would only cost $3.25 m next year which is very easy for teams to absorb.
Plus RHD is always in demand.

Re: Rumored ask for Thomas
Regarding Thomas, you can never underestimate the lust of organizations to win the Cup. Not only that, the acquiring team would have a budget friendly contract for many years. If you look at teams that are close to competing, they can compromise a few years of lost draft picks and a gold chip prospect or two to acquire Thomas. If I'm Army and Steen, anyone is tradeable for the right price.

There's a massive problem with trading Faulk, Thomas, Parayko specifically. Faulk, your replacement is 2-3 years away. It makes sense to deal him next year if LM is getting better and you are fine with Jiricek learning at the end.zamadoo wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 16:29 pmI thought trading expiring contracts of ROR, Tank, Mikkola, and Barbashev (oh and Acciari) in February 2023 was pretty good.LGB73 wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 15:46 pm That's a steep asking price. Parayko, EVEN BIGGER problem than Faulk. He leads the league in blocking shots, and he's your best defender. Broberg can't do it by himself. You going to trade Parayko and Faulk. Good Fing Luck fielding a hockey team. All of your forwards will want to cut bait and won't want to be here and broberg will be demanding a trade.
Thomas, who is playing behind him? He's a top 15 Center in the league over the last couple seasons. Happens to be having an injury ridden down year. Who was the last guy on this hockey club who was a PPG guy in back to back seasons? His name was buchy and he did it in his first 2 seasons.
I bring all that up, because you should be looking to stand pat for those 3 guys. Unless the offer is so wildly high, you can actually maneuver around it and grow next year, you can't make the trade. That being said, if someone wants to offer a Mo Seider for a Parayko, because they decide vet now and win now is more important, guess what you got my attention. But who in the world is doing that level of trade? Faulk like I have been saying gets traded next year if the team isn't competitive.
You are looking to trade schenn/kyrou/buchy/suter/joseph/sunny/bjug. And for all but the top 3 you aren't getting 1st and most likely 2nds. So your only doing it to make way for other players. if you are trading the top 3 guys, you are doing it for younger guys because according to the ownership, they don't want to sit here and us burn thru years when we have talent right now with Broberg/Hollywood/Thomas/Snuggy/Dvorsky/Neighbours/Hofer. The team has too many young guys that are ready to make a solid run that blowing it up means a 10 year rebuild.

I also think most believe Chief was calling out RT even more than Kyrou when questioning compete and leadership.hockey jedi wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 17:39 pm Regarding Thomas, you can never underestimate the lust of organizations to win the Cup. I don’t know about you but I certainly wouldn’t hitch my horse to a persistent eye roller who real leaders doubt.
RT is number one on my list of core purge players.

I never said anything about trading Parayko, and anything involving him or Thomas should be radical like the OP. If we did trade either of them, we should have a young replacement-type player or prospects coming back, or from another trade. Some young centers have been mentioned in prior threads.
While I have some caution, I do want to move Faulk now for maximum return and to further increase our chances of picking top-3. This is also a reason I want to trade Kyrou now.
I am open to trading most of the players you listed, but prefer to keep Schenn. Actually, I would like to acquire his brother. Move Faulk, bring in Schenn.
Interesting note about Buch (who I'd also be fine trading by the TDL), he was PPG but has never played a full season and has never had 80pts. Kyrou is a 70pt winger listed as a center.
