I’ve saw where some people are clamoring for Bloom to now go and sign a right handed hitter to beef up the lineup. I was all for this when I thought the Cardinals might try and compete, but obviously they aren’t, so why waste the money now? What’s the point? 3, or 4 more wins?
Here’s a look at two Cardinal players and what they’ve done in the minors the last two years. People are wanting to gather more prospects, but what about the ones we already have? They seem to be like kids and toys, they want the new shiny ones , not the older ones that they haven’t even been taken out of the box yet!
Ok, first one, his combined last two years at Memphis.
At bats Runs Hits D T HR RBI’s BB SO SB HBP .Avg .OB% .SLG% OPS
433 87 132. 36 0 15 67 79 47 38 13 .305 .429 .492 .921 Jose Fermin plays multiple positions
Next one and his combined last two seasons at AA and AAA.
779 137 257 44 3 11 107 139 132 59 2 .330 .433 .437 .870 Bryan Torres plays multiple positions
Both players are versatile with plus speed, and know how to get on base without striking out a ton. Neither have a lot of power, but still have decent OPS’s.
A platoon of these two in left field, at the very least, would be interesting!
Roster moving forward

The curse of being a MiLB player that wasn't drafted high or possess aHoosier59 wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 11:22 am I’ve saw where some people are clamoring for Bloom to now go and sign a right handed hitter to beef up the lineup. standout trait.
Takes an opportunity. Donovan got an extended one. The 2 you mentioned may well
be as good as him or totally flop. At this point an extended opportunity
would likely only happen as a result of injury.
I do agree with your view as one who leans heavy toward a guy getting a shot.
I'd much rather see them get one than bring in the same level player, +/-, with
the idea of trading them for some great piece.

Bloom did allude in his press conference today that he's still on the lookout for that RHHing OFer either vis trade or FA.
