Sell off in 3 2 1
After last nights implosion which I was happy about btw there is no way there isn’t movement coming. That game will be the talk of the league by coaches and gms tomorrow.
I wouldn’t doubt a move comes before the freeze. Gives the players moved time to get acclimated with the new team also.

Stopped watching at 5-1 so it was a pleasant surprise to wake up to a regulation loss.

Man, I wasn’t happy about it. In fact, I was getting more and more (upset) as the Nashville fans got exceedingly more smug and annoying. That said, I slept perfectly fine.diehardbluesfan1 wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 03:54 am After last nights implosion which I was happy about btw there is no way there isn’t movement coming. Normal circumstances, a game where they blew a lead and lost in OT would leave me angry in bed. However, this is the 2025/26 Blues, following the 2025 Cardinals & 2025 CITY SC. At this point, I’m just looking down the road in all directions.
Hopefully, the Draft Lottery won’t (bleep) me off like the MLB one did

Re: Sell off in 3 2 1
The question becomes which of the buying teams steps up first and makes a big move?
I suppose you can flip the question and ask which of the selling teams feels that are getting full value and trades one of the big boys first?
There are still a ton of teams that will wait until the TDL to make moves because of uncertainty of making the playoffs.
Buyers for Sure:
Carolina (2C & RHD)
Detroit (2C & RHD)
Minnesota (2C)
Dallas (RHD)
Tampa (RHD)
Colorado (RHD)
Vegas (LW)
Edmonton (Winger)
Probable Buyers:
Montreal (2C & Depth D-Man)
NY Islanders (2C and/or Top 6 Winger)
Anaheim (RHD)
Buffalo (Top 6 Winger)
Utah (Depth)
Washington (Scoring Forward)
Pittsburgh (Forward & D-Man)
Possible Buyers:
Ottawa (RHD & Scoring Winger)
Los Angeles (Top 6 Forward)
Seattle (Top 6 Winger)
Winnipeg (2C)
Boston (Depth)
Buyers or Sellers?:
New Jersey (Top 6 Winger)
Columbus (Top 6 Winger)
Nashville (Forward & D-Man)
San Jose (Forward & D-Man)
Sellers for Sure
Vancouver
Calgary
NY Rangers
St. Louis
Probable Sellers
Chicago
Philadelphia
Toronto
That leaves Florida.
They have 2 games left before the break (Boston & Tampa). They need to win both.
It just seems like a lost year for them.
You can blame the injuries but the biggest disappointment has to be Bobrovsky in his walk year.
Zito is a riverboat gambler though.
Does he somehow make Panarin fit or does he write this year off and trade Greer and perhaps E-Rod at the TDL?
Obviously all of their big guns are under contract save Bob so it might be a quiet deadline for them if they don't go on a winning streak.
They could use a full summer of rest so they come back healthy and refreshed for the 26-27 season.

Re: Sell off in 3 2 1
This team sucks. Army is going to trade Thomas for an underwhelming return, and then hold a press conference where he says, "Sometimes you've got to give to get." I hate everything.
Re: Sell off in 3 2 1
It feels like there will be a post Olympic trade rush this year.
This team has had too many injuries and too poor of goaltending to do well this year. If anything I am happy this perfect crash happened. I am still very positive on the young core and excited to see this team with a top five pick, and one or two more 2026 first rounders.

This has been pretty much determined weeks ago. I just watch to see the progress of our young players. The overreactions at this point are worthless. This team has been toast for a while. I don't even get upset at this point. I've always abhorred tanking, but I'm all in for draft position now.

Army always says the team.determines if he's going to be active or not.
He'll be active. To what extent? TBD.

Re: Sell off in 3 2 1
When I look at your thoughts & assessment of the For Sure, Probable and Possible Buyers, it really indicates an opportunity to potentially clear a couple of Cap & cash eaters that are on the debatable bubble of "should we just move on." I'm sure there will be a lot of angry debate here for those moves, but at least we do have flashes of young talent depth. If we can fill that Center hole and get a shot at a consensus exceptional talent at whatever position, it would be nice.TheHighHat wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 05:53 am The question becomes which of the buying teams steps up first and makes a big move?

It won't be easy. But unfortunately it could be more fun to see what happens than it is to watch the actual Blues' games during the next month.
Re: Sell off in 3 2 1
Too bad due to the lottery, we’ll probably fall to 7th or 8th. When has anyone known the Blues to catch a break with the league?esp31 wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 07:28 am This has been pretty much determined weeks ago. Agreed. Teams will wait to see what injuries come out of the Olympics, which could drastically alter a team(s) trade plans. I expect a flurry of action once the Olympic trade freeze is lifted.dr0zombie wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 07:19 am It feels like there will be a post Olympic trade rush this year.

If the Blues finish last then they can only fall a spot or two...netboy65 wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 08:30 amToo bad due to the lottery, we’ll probably fall to 7th or 8th. Re: Sell off in 3 2 1
I'd only look to move any of the many fourth liners plus up to two, or three everyday players. Before deadline. Faulk, Binny, and for a little more, Schenn(only because he has the C)
Unless a offer is made for another that can't be refused.
Before the draft. I'd want to move anyone out that we have a replacement for and that someone would take. I'd be willing to trade some at a "loss"
Want to keep Thomas, Kyrou, and youth.
For the right price. All must be available and balls need to be had. But upgraded for next year and beyond has to be the plan.

Re: Sell off in 3 2 1
Only reason to keep kyrou is if you plan on tanking for the next 5 years. Dude is an anchor. He cant go fast enough
Re: Sell off in 3 2 1
I think the prime targets to be moved before the TDL are Faulk and Schenn. I could make an argument for keeping both of them but that fact is they're older vets with a little term left and this team needs more help in the pipeline to ensure they get back to being a perennial playoff team. Kyrou/Buch are likely not traded before TDL given their cap hits. Binnington isn't showing why anyone would want to trade for him. Makes little sense to trade Thomas as we are woefully short of Cs right now in the organization.
Given that we should be rolling out a younger, thus cheaper lineup, the next couple of years, we should be retaining on both Faulk and Schenn. The value for each of those guys on $3.25 cap hits should be pretty high for the team acquiring them. If you're a playoff contender this year and next, wouldn't having these two guys for a total $6.5m cap hit look pretty good.
