At least we're keeping our powder dry.
Plenty of room in payroll now. In 3-5 years we can come in second in the bidding for the top talent in the league. Then the billionaires can throw up their hands and say "We tried!"
It appears that barring a lightning strike, the Cards franchise is in for extended losing until new ownership shows up. Let's all say it together...."Low hanging fruit....powder dry....low hanging fruit....powder dry.

new ownership may not be the panacea some believe
the huge money guys are much more likely to pursue big market teams
stl could get a second tier owner with financial restraints

The new CBA will have more impact on the price of free agents than anything. If we don’t get a cap, STL won’t come in second. We won’t ever bid on the top talent. They’ll cost $50M AAV.CCard wrote: ↑03 Feb 2026 08:10 am Plenty of room in payroll now. In 3-5 years we can come in second in the bidding for the top talent in the league.
