Knocked another $5.8M off 2026 salary with Donny trade

Post by peterman'srealitytour »

Time to put some $ into a 2026 bat (Andujar?). At the very least could likely flip him at the deadline.

Why? Bloom masterfully opened up about 1000 ab for young guys. I didn’t look it up.
What’s Andujar do for you? You think we are winning in 2026?

Very well could be the time?
I was holding off commenting until seeing whether Donovan was dealt or not.
There is clearly room now to add an “Andujar Type” player and STILL give PT to those that need it.

Touched a nerve, ‘eh?

Yeah, I get your p!$$ed off at Bloom but join us in the real world. He was hired to tear it down and build it back up. Like it or not

Why sign Andujar? He’s an investment. Hop e he catches fire and flip ‘em at the deadline, that’s why.

He will definitely bring in a veteran right handed bat. Andjuar could be it and probably another veteran starter.

Bringing in Andujar or any other player like him would be a total waste of money now, and completely idiotic by Bloom. It’s time to see what Saggese, Fermin, Torres, Prieto, Church, and any other young player they have can do.

Wrong.

Andujar is primarily a corner OF and RH bat. Different position and type of player than those guys you listed.

Again, he’d be an investment. Hope he gets hot and flip him for better prospects the guys you list above.

I’d try to read again what I wrote. I said Bloom masterfully opens up 1000 abs. It’s actually 1500. I looked it up.
WTF are you talking about?

Agree on the bat.
Not sure about adding a vet starter?
Rotation spots for sure:
Libby
McGreevy
May
Then???
Does Leahy get a look?
Fitts?
Dobbins?
Does Mathews factor in early?
Guess we’re about to find out?

No way that happens. Ol Billy and his wig wearing son have raised some ticket prices! And announced today that its going to be $20 a month (or $100 a year) to watch on the new mlbtv deal. Way to go DeWitt! Slash payroll and bleed the fans! Fantastic business move.

Unlike many around here, I’m grateful for the opening of those 1500 ABs. How about we trade Noot and Jo Jo for a young RH corner OFer with some years of control?

Ok, say they sign Andujar and he repeats what he did last year, doubtful, but let’s say he does, Just what kind of a return do you expect to get for him? Another low A prospect, whoopee!
I’d rather see what the guys we already have can do. What if Fermin or Torres or Church replicate what they’ve done at AAA? Wouldn’t that be more valuable than signing Andujar to a $10-$15 mil contract? We aren’t winning anything anyway!

He might not bring in another veteran but he said was looking to add another veteran starter after may and he’s done everything he said he’s going to do so far so I think he will add the bat and another veteran starter who is less risky than may

Ok with me!
You can never have too much pitching.
I guess we’ll see who gets those 5 spots in ST.
Go Cards...let’s play ball!!

Agree. Even if he has a somewhat productive first half, you aren't getting any game-changing prospects back for him. Saggese and Fermin both have alluded to working in the OF. Nathan Church needs and deserves a much longer look. Bryan Torres, in my opinion, is a pure hitter and a legit, old-school leadoff type. Would love for him to get an opportunity.
