Just when I thought...
They were going to screw up the TankforIvar, Hofer comes through for us. Definitely would like to keep Binnington until the Swedish goalie has a shot of cracking the lineup. Hofer is weak against decent and good teams but hopefully that kid will be good. Everything got screwed up in net went Ellis was taken away

Haha. Yep, Ellis is where this season went off the rails. Our 3rd string goalie. Your argument here being that if we’d have kept Ellis he’d currently be our 1st stringer and we’d be deeply secured into a playoff position?BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 21:33 pmBinnington was the fourth string goalie.Backesdraft wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 21:27 pmHaha. No...I'm stating that writing off a goalie because he's third string is dumb especially with the recent example of JB.Backesdraft wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 21:39 pmYour argument here being that if we’d have kept Ellis he’d currently be our 1st stringer and we’d be deeply secured into a playoff position?BalotelliMassive wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 21:33 pmBinnington was the fourth string goalie.Backesdraft wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 21:27 pmHaha. Bishop too was a third string goalie and came very close to winning it all.

Re: Just when I thought...
Lol, love how you hofer defenders take it to the extreme implying that I believe Ellis would have taken us to the playoffs...please show me where I said that. Just pointing out Hofer is not a goalie you can count on for the future. The beginning of the year was the first sign and now he still has hiccups anytime he plays a decent team. He has been protected just like our previous back up who you all thought was the second coming of Liut and who is now a backup goalie elsewhere. The only reason they are giving him some decent teams this year is to see how bad we will be if we trade Binnington. Out of all the veterans being traded at the deadline, I don't think they will trade Binnington if they think they can get Ivar and take a run for the last playoff spot next year
Re: Just when I thought...
The 3rd string goalie would never come close to sniffing a game this season. When Hofer has been one of the best goalies in the NHL since late November, the worst goaltender was gifted half the starts to prep for Canada.
No room for a 3rd string guy in Army’s world. For those who are brain damaged and are now saying Hofer n Binnington are the same…..this is Hofer’s first non SO loss in his recent skid of 3+ goals in his last 3 games.
He was a wall for the previous 2 months.

The perfect scenario would be see Binner have a great Olympics like the Four Nations last year. This will hopefully drive up his value and get a decent return. We trade him and sign someone off the trash heap, like Cal Pickard, or whoever. They can bring up Zherenko next year to backup Hofer.
Re: Just when I thought...
Doe anyone really feel like the play in the defensive zone doesn't play a role in this demise? (and last game and various other games)...And in those yellows, the Preds really did start to swarm like bees after we made it 5 - 1. The comment was made that we played man to man and then switched off to zone coverage either after we made it 5-1 or after it was 5-3. And then they tried to switch back to man to man. Is that the way most NHL teams set up defense? I think of a seasoned veteran like Fowler. I 'll bet he has been frustrated all season by the switching back and forth and inconsistency he probably needed. Parayko is not the same either. Plus I heard someone say on the radio recently that Ryan Suter is sorely missed. Well too late for him with his age and "forced" retirement would be like playing Lucic. Suter would get away with little slashes and thing that the referee would not call on a crusty old veteran. Just wanted to get in tat the goalies are bad but the defensive scheme or the way the forwards come back is not good.
The soft defense was sorely exposed when Robertsonuntouched with either Broberg nor Parayko's stick
