Bloom panicked
Waiting 4 months for a deal he could have made back in November
Bloom panicked. He saw SF got a 2B and knew he only had one team left and made the quickest deal possible.
Bloom was horrible with the Red Sox and hes horrible now.
Also, can he not evaluate hitters at all?

Re: Bloom panicked
He got a 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, 2024 1st, and a 2026 comp pick.
That’s a lot of value for a good not great player with 2 years of control.

AOF, who give a chit where they were drafted…..are they any good now??????An Old Friend wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:17 pmHe got a 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, 2024 1st, and a 2026 comp pick.

Yep. Jurrangelo looks legit and should be better once he focuses on only throwing right handed.Goldfan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:19 pmAOF, who give a chit where they were drafted…..are they any good now??????An Old Friend wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:17 pmHe got a 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, 2024 1st, and a 2026 comp pick.

Peete is a typical toolsy upside high school draftee. Those hitters usually take years to develop.
Ledbetter could end up being a 3rd/4th outfielder type… higher floor and some mid minors outfield depth.

There will be plenty of folks on here that focus almost entirely on these three things:Goldfan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:19 pmAOF, who give a chit where they were drafted…..are they any good now??????An Old Friend wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:17 pmHe got a 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, 2024 1st, and a 2026 comp pick.

The 2026 MLB 26-man roster
The 2026 MLB payroll
The 2026 MLB win/loss record
These folks will not be happy through this rebuild for quite some time. The immediate focus and priority for Bloom and Company are really none of those three things. This rebuild is going to take some time (years).

AOF was attempting to assess the trade quality by detailing where the prospects were drafted….2-3yr ago. Who cares…..what matters is are they any good now.imetsatchelpaige wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:52 pmThese are the same people who lay on their horn in highway gridlock.BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:46 pmThere will be plenty of folks on here that focus almost entirely on these three things:Goldfan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:19 pmAOF, who give a chit where they were drafted…..are they any good now??????An Old Friend wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:17 pmHe got a 2023 1st, 2023 2nd, 2024 1st, and a 2026 comp pick.

Your lack of baseball acumen becomes more obvious with every post.
As is often noted.

Paige you were one of the geniuses cheering MO’s idiocy on well into great drawdown……while I was telling you the downturn was comingimetsatchelpaige wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 19:02 pmAre you still here?Goldfan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 18:59 pmAOF was attempting to assess the trade quality by detailing where the prospects were drafted….2-3yr ago. And your responses were the same as they are right now…..don’t lecture me on the ability to see and assess baseball talent
The Monday Morning QBing around here is hilarious……
Re: Bloom panicked
Bloom didn’t panic. If you haven’t been following along, the Cardinals’ local tv contract decreased about $50m per year from its peak of a couple years ago. Dewitt told Bloom to dump any payroll he could, so that’s what he’s done this offseason. The Mariners were always the team that made the most sense for a Donovan trade.
