Gotta say, this is pretty great. I'm fairly picky regarding hackneyed plots and characters, but the writing and character development is very adult, insightful. If I had a gripe, and its a small one, its the libertarian angle - which in that time & place, and also in this particular time & place, highlights the hazards of weaponized government and the basic weaponization of great concentrationss of wealth. The bad guy was quite rational in exposition of his modus operandi, being an unadorned, unvarnished orthodox take on 'business'. It was no caricature, but real politik.
I almost find myself taking more his view, and considering the 'heros' as anachronistic moralistic cranks. Have yet to see how it shakes out - but its quite interesting that the conflict is not even slightly cartoonish.
Haven't yet seen the main series, i.e. Yellowstone, have been going through the franchise chronologically. This 1923 2 season chapter is centered upon the first three generations of the Dutton family, on a better mark than the first one, 1883. Highly recommended.
