Finally. A light at the end of the tunnel. It might be a locomotive, but it’s still a light.

First business- temperature check. How cold are ya? 27 here.

February. Super Bowl next Sunday. Then pitchers and catchers between 10-13 February. Then Daytona 500.

That puts us to ST games. 17 February.

Seems like a bit since final out of WS. And a long cold winter.

13 degrees here. I hate winter. Fortunately, the days waiting for baseball are growing shorter. I need me some baseball right now! Per the comment on the Super Bowl, I won't be watching. Blues? WTF??? They find ways to lose and lose both early and late in games. I no longer follow college hoops. Kentucky??? I do follow HS sports, so there is that.
Heres a neat idea. If you follow HS sports, Sikeston is like 18-2, number two, I believe class 5. Give ya something to root about.
The HS where I retired from is 18-5. The girls are 15-9. I coached in both programs at some point in my teaching career. They won't get to state, but they are fun to watch.
Cool. Commend you for your teaching efforts. You can rest assured you made many differences.

Yea Sikeston has to get thru district, then they usually lose in semis at state. Not bad losses. Few points.
Schedule is suspect….
Ha haha You don’t know. They have three tough road games next ten days- Dexter, Scott City, Jackson. Plus Cape at home. Will have to play well.
Dogs are class 5

There are several class 2 or 3 on the schedule…….just saying the record is better than the team..

Not their fault…not many class 5 in the heel…, and they have to play someone
Ooooh ok. That is true. Very few class five. Correct. That’s why they play the STL tournaments. Just won the Union tourney, beating ST Francis Borgia.
At least they have a chance in hoops…

One year in football……rolled up a great record….again not all class 5 competition

Anyway, they had a home game in the first….and an Stl team came to town and just blew the dogs out.

all class 5 is not equal..

Feeling for you guys up north.

Mesa is Cubs ST camp. In the 5 years I've wintered here, the ony time I spent watching the Cubbies was when the Redbirds visited late March '24 on the way to LA opening. Cards won both games. I brought my Cubbie fan daughter and son in law (living in Phoenix) to the game and took just a little verbal pleasure in the beatdowns.

Looking forward to progress in '26, both in St Louis and the various minor league camps. I think our farms should fare well this year.
Nice write. Do you do this schedule every year.
Yes we bought a condo in 2021 and have 5 winters in Mesa. It almost feels like cheating.

4 degrees here in the St. Louis area. My neighbor went on vacation to Florida this past week. Talk about bad timing.

It will be a long boring summer of baseball.

25 yesterday morning St Johns County Florida, that was awful. It did end up getting into the mid 40s, and currently its 25, but should hit the low 50s. Hopefully this cold front gets the heck out of here.

I shouldn't complain too much, I did get 12 holes in on Friday, it was ~65 when we tee'd off at 4 pm.

No phone, no pool, no pets,
I ain’t got no cigarettes.
I smoke old stogies I have found,
Short, but not too big-around.
I’m a man of means by no means,
