How's the Cardinals' bench shaping up?
Fermin, Saggese, Prieto?, Jordan?, Church, Torres?, Pages, Pozo?, Crooks? It would be nice if Saggese can double up infield/outfield. Getting another righty bat in the outfield corps.

The team will have 10 starting position players. 13 pitchers. Another catcher. So you get two picks, provided another player doesn’t rise and shine. So technically, you have one slot open.

You can guess the bench will be weak or they would be starting.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2026 08:26 amThe team will have 10 starting position players. 13 pitchers. Another catcher. So you get two picks, provided another player doesn’t rise and shine. So technically, you have one slot open.

A) Crooks, Saggese, Andujar, Goldschmidt
B) Crooks, Saggese, Fermin, Andujar
C) Crooks, Saggese, Fermin, Torres
I’d be fine with C if we put the money in to top of the rotation free agent pitching.

Bench players? This will be more like check in today to see who takes the field. I would think that with so much unknown, the Cardinals might set a record for different lineups in a year.

I believe the bench is a long lasting wood composite.
And Rectangle is the Shape.

That's a HUGE part of Oli's shortcomings. He treats the MLB like it's the minor leagues.

I think the following (as of today) are our 13 position players:
Donovan LF
Scott II CF
Walker RF
Gorman 3B
Winn SS
Wetherholt 2B
Burleson 1B
Herrera C
Crooks/Pages (depends on Herrera)
Saggese Utilty
Church OF
Fermin Utility
Torres (my sneak pick) Utility
Re: How's the Cardinals' bench shaping up?
they refused to break camp with a deserving Matt Koperniak last year, because they had redundancy with Scott II and Siani. People want Torres but he's another redundant LHB. The team has Church and Scott II. Two redundant LHB for the OF. Plus Nootbaar, Donovan, Burleson, Crooks, Gorman, Wetherholt....all LHB. The team NEEDS RHB.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑01 Feb 2026 11:40 amI think the following (as of today) are our 13 position players:

Bench will likely be, barring injury, Fermin (RHB), Saggese (RHB), Church (LHB), Pozo (RHB) / Crooks (LHB)

Re: How's the Cardinals' bench shaping up?
Could Prieto get a utility role? What about DH possibilities? Crooks or Church vs RHP and Saggese or Fermin vs LHP maybe.Cardinals4Life wrote: ↑01 Feb 2026 11:40 amI think the following (as of today) are our 13 position players:

Not sure. I think there is still quite a bit to shake out before the season starts.Shady wrote: ↑01 Feb 2026 12:05 pmCould Prieto get a utility role? What about DH possibilities? When I see a Shady post that starts out "How" or "Is" something, it always reminds me of Airplane. "Johnny, what can you make out of this?" Johnny says "This? Why, I can make a hat or a brooch or a pterodactyl..."
Shady, have you ever spent time in a cockpit before?

Oh, it's a big pretty white plane with red stripes, curtains in the window and wheels and it looks like a big Tylenol!zuck698 wrote: ↑01 Feb 2026 14:41 pmWhen I see a Shady post that starts out "How" or "Is" something, it always reminds me of Airplane.
