Carbo and Korotky Update
Carbo scored a pair and now leads the Q with 37.
Also, looks like Matvei Korotky came back on Jan. 22 in the KHL. Seems like forever (3 months). Glad to see him back and hope to see him putting up some points. Especially in that league.

Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
Thx for the update. Hoping Carbs gets some NHL time next season and then is full-time the year after. Seems like bigger Perron type. I’d be ecstatic if he could develop into that type of guy.

Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
Carbo has some Perron.
He has said he patterns himself after Konecny and Kempe...
"I compare myself to Adrian Kempe and Travis Konecny. Kempe, I think his size, speed and shot. I think I bring that, and Konecny, his mindset. I’m not scared of anyone. I score goals in the paint and dirty areas."

The Blues need a few players with that attitude

Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
78 - his attitude is one of his best characteristics. Forget goals. He welcomes a challenge.
He used the Canada snub as an opportunity or "fuel" to be more effective on the forecheck and without the puck to become a more complete player. He is exactly what you look for in a young, heck, any player.
Drafting at 19, the Blues have another steal.

Thanks for these posts.
For some reason I am really intrigued by this Korotky kid -- probably the potential hidden gem effect. I hope his injury is completely in the past and that works out for us in the future.

If given a chance this kid could be great. If I'm not mistaken he was youngest kid of the draft, he would have went the following year he would have been late first rounder early 2nd

Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
I wonder what Carbs ceiling at the NHL level is? He is to good for his current league but is he gonna be this good against men? Currently I think he has more offensive upside than the david perron comp. The Kempe comp would be nice.

Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
we'd be fortunate if we got a Perron out of him
Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
Most people just look at numbers. They don’t/can’t see the intangibles.
Perron, the player, was quite special. He adapted and reinvented himself, while always caring so much about Team. I know I’m preaching to choir.

Korotky is hard to find anything on. Several websites have him at 6'2, others at 6'0. 16pts in 27 KHL games for the 20 year old C, who appears to be the real deal.
This from 2 weeks ago saying he returned to the SKA lineup at 2C. https://x.com/HockeyNewsHub/status/2014360551124541691
Here we go, looks like he's been playing https://www.flashscore.com/player/korot ... /MHwFLGW6/
Must be some kind of all-star break in their league, as he has registered stats for the winning KHL U23 Stars vs KHL World Stars game. 2pts +3 in 4 min.
Played a little over 16min in two games prior to that. 1A and a -1 in those two games. Looks like he also played other games, and was likely scratched some as well. Played a lot of minutes, but no scoring, and his team lost a lot of games.
Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
Agree.....he's intriguing for sure...hidden gem in the hidden league? It would be pretty cool to get a hit on him.
On Carbs, he has a maturity level beyond his years that's going to help him and can't wait to see him on the big ice.
Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
I lived in Chicago back in the day and went to a Blues/Hawks game Perron’s rookie year. Game situation is sort of hazy but the hawks scored late and Perron was on the ice. The way he rifled the puck into the boards after the goal stood out to me. It wasn’t your standard “(bleep) it! they scored” it was more like “f***….I hate this” and it stuck with me forever. Kid had unbelievable compete in him…….If Carboneau has that compete…….watch out!
Re: Carbo and Korotky Update
I like the comparison on some parallels .....Feel pretty certain Carb has a maturity level that would have likely helped David in his early years.bixblues wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 09:05 am I lived in Chicago back in the day and went to a Blues/Hawks game Perron’s rookie year. Fun to think about a DP clone coming back here, I wish he was still a Blue.

I’m the same. I see of lot of DP57 in Carbs. The compete, the shot, the hands to dangle, the cockiness/confidence, and at times a little bit of a dirty/mean streak. I know Carbs compared himself to Kempe I think, but we shall see. I’m with you though, wish DP57 had retired a Blue.dhsux wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 09:22 amI like the comparison on some parallels .....Feel pretty certain Carb has a maturity level that would have likely helped David in his early years.bixblues wrote: ↑08 Feb 2026 09:05 am I lived in Chicago back in the day and went to a Blues/Hawks game Perron’s rookie year.
